I have been using the evaluation copy for a few months now, and I like it. Seems to be faster than Vista, even on an older laptop. Haven’t had any problems with it. If you have some trouble with your current system, it might worth the upgrade…
121FOTOParticipantwell to be honest I have not had any problems with my operating system ( Windows Xp) but I heard that W7 does manage the memory better and is not as hungry as the previous operating systems.
Might give it a try… 8)miki gParticipantIf you have some trouble with your current system, it might worth the upgrade…
A little bit late I’m afraid. I smashed my good laptop off the wall today in frustration after an automatic update F***ed it up.
Counting to ten and taking deep breaths didn’t work this time. :D121FOTOParticipantIn my case it will be a clean installation. Moving from XP to W7. I just hope Capture NX will work on W7 :)
MartinParticipantI love my MAC :D
Gave up on shi*ty windows two years ago, i’ll never go back to the crap they call an operating system….

Apparently the latest release from Mac was considered, but Mac fans, the biggest disaster ever….

Ive had no problems at all after installing it, my machine is still as fast and reliable as the day I bought it…. :D
Didn’t hear that it was the biggest disaster ever to be honest….

JodyParticipantI’ve only tinkered with the Windows 7 Release Candidate and it looks good.
What I’ve read about Windows 7 is also good, but there is really no need to upgrade to it. From XP especially you won’t get significant (if any) performance enhancement from the upgrade. It does handle memory better than Vista and isn’t as processor hungry, but the vast majority of IT people will stay with XP until they absolutley have to get rid of it. Myself, I’ll gradually introduce Windows 7 into the company when XP is no longer an option.
Microsoft have also pushed out their End of Support date for XP, so there is no support reason to change your current OS.
I have also read that upgrades to Windows 7 isn’t the best idea in the world, and a fresh install is the best way to go, which complicates matters.
My advice for a home user, work away with what you have now. Don’t upgrade to Windows 7 on your current PC. Just consider it if you’re buying a new one in the future.
