This is the alpha female from a small pack in Finland near the Russian border. It was near dark and ISO was waaaay up beyond my comfort zone.
Excellent shot Aidan and the noise doesn’t look that bad. IT must have been some experience to watch these guys in the wild, how close did they come and were you in a secure hide.

Yeah, we were in a wooden hide for bear/wolf photography. The wolves are quite suspecting, and never really came closer than maybe 50 metres. Bears … as long as they didn’t notice lenses being moved, would come as close as a few feet!!!
Absolutely a great experience. Imaging a pack of wild wolves wolves howling at 1am just a few hundred yards from you. THAT is a memory to save!
