Taken at a local sanctuary. There is an entire pack of wolves here, rescued from a fur farm in Czechoslovakia. I have to admit I have a certain fondness for wolves. Touch wood, I will pass my driving test in November and can visit this sanctuary more often for some better shots.
I haven’t included a photo of the original, but this shot required a fair bit of ‘shopping. The crop isn’t centered because of too many distracting leaves and branches that were to the right. Instead I went for a less conventional crop. There was a protective plastic panel between me and the subject that cast a mist-like effect on the shot, there were leaves obscuring the fur, but I think I’ve managed to remove them quite well without leaving too many artifacts.
C&C of course, is welcomed.
Focal length – 900mm, f/8, 1/30 speed, ISO 800
PeteTheBlokeMemberFocal length 900mm! ISO 800, shot through a plastic panel
and you can still see individual hairs in the critter’s ears.
I’d be well chuffed with this shot. It’s not perfect, but it’s bloomin’
good effort. Well done.RobMember:shock: 900mm!
That sounds like some very heavy and very expensive glass…
As Pete said, you did well with this considering what you were up
against. I’d be pleased too…Rob.
jb7ParticipantGood one Wolfy-
you must have a very good tripod- :wink:I sense a new avatar coming on too-

Yeah I was happy with this one. Pete’s right, it’s not perfect, but at that length it’s never going to be.
The glass wasn’t as expensive as it could of been. This is where luck played more of a role.. I used my Canon L 400mm USM IS plus a 2x extender, that, coupled with the 1.6x of the Canon 350D… well it’s actually just over 900mm isn’t it. Maths was never my fort?…….
jb7, you’re damn right! New avatar on the way ;)
