Crawled out of bed on Sunday morning and seeking inspiration headed to Dublins South Wall. It was low tide, so some interesting green seaweed around before the sun came and dried it out.
c&c of course welcome, expect some more as I go through them….. great spot by the way and good walk too!
Hi Des.
There’s a nice sense of solitude in this but for me it’s definitely one of those images that works much better as a B&W. Have you tried it? Possibly the horizon could be darkened a little as well, although that may just be my screen.
I actually did take a look at B&W, but felt the green seaweed was worth keeping.
I agree it does lack something, a seal pup or two would have been nice but what can you do? My intention was to capture my interpetation of what I saw and this is the end (?) product.
I have been here before and as the tide was in, this composition wasnt possible as I would have been underwater so I saw the possabilities and attempted to take a shot of a well known scene but with a different view to the norm.
Incidentally, this stuff is extreeeeemly slippery – luckily I survived intact.
I think the green seaweed works very well with the strong pattern in the flagstones, however I do feel that you have included far too much sky in your picture. The sky is a major distraction to the pattern in the foreground and I would suggest that you crop at least 2/3rds out of your picture.
