It seems that the only places a photographer can make ends meat is in weddings and commercial businesses maybe.
I’m looking for work experience as part of my photography apprentiship, it would be great to be given a chance to see how photogaphers work and to experience what’s out there.
I have a colour portfolio and have mostly done work with black and white printing in the darkroom, developing, mounting etc.
I saw posts on the forums on http://www.weddingsonline.ie from photographers starting out, offering photo only options to brides free of charge just for experience. Any I have seen have received good responses.
There are plenty of brides and grooms out there looking for low cost options. Maybe you could try that!!
Or you might be lucky to know someone getting married that would allow you to shoot their wedding even if it was as a second photographer. That’s how I started, it it developed from there. There seems to be very few photographers out there willing to take on apprentices or assistants.
