From a workshop shoot with the very talented Seamus Costello in Kilkenny. We had a chance to work with the model for about 10 mins each and use our own lighting arrangments or use subtractive flags etc. Here is my fave image i got of this amazing model.
No Artificial Lighting apart from window light and black flag to left of model. Shot at 1/125th at f4 at Iso 400. Toned with a lab method for Black ^ white and then a warm tone layer on top.
Me too! Hard to know how to get into it without raising eyebrows. I guess maybe establish a portrait portfolio and branch into it from there once you can show that you’re interest is genuinely photography?
Lovely shot though. Great lighting and processing. Love the lines from the wall as well. They almost add a sense of vertical movement to it.
I would suggest if you have the cash hire a reputable model from the many forums, this girl is nothing short of amazing and gave it everything for the full day,a workshop is a great idea with fellow togs that are keen to shoot this medium and will lower the cost.I began practising with a dummy i found in a skip just the torso so i knew what lighting (low Key) setups i needed on the day and i saved a lot of faffing around.
