WTB: Kodak Aero Ektar 178mm (7") f/2.5

I was wondering if anyone has one of these in good condition for sale? I’m looking for one with no glass separation, with no balsam porblems, no bubbles etc.

    Thank you all,

    Vlad

You have tried Jo Lommen I guess…
Alternatively I can sell you my 195mm f1.2 in Arca-Swiss board if you wanted to :)
I’ve had a 7″ Aero-Ektar once but found it kind of overrated. The Cooke Series X is significantly better.
All these lenses are pretty crap when used handheld anyway.

Hi there, thank you indeed very much for informative reply! I obtained the lens from ebay after all, in pretty good shape as well. Jo’s offers are little beyond my budget, I like his work very much though.

I was trying to find portraiture samples done with your 195mm f1.2 but I couldn’t find any. I came across discussions where images were taken in combination with 8×10 cameras. Do you think it can be used with Speed Graphic for landscapes and portraiture, do you recon bellows would be long enough to focus?

    Vlad,
I’m glad you found a lens.
re: 195mm f1.25: My offer was a bit tongue-in-cheek. Although I’m going to sell mine, it wouldn’t be suitable for a normal Speed-Graphic, as it is too big (~160mm diameter) and heavy (way over 2kgs I would say). I have used it on a 5×7 Arca-Swiss monorail with the back part of an old Speed-Graphic as a shutter.
