Hi Mick
#1 for me, no contest, though personally I would have cropped it to
a pano effect, just above the cloud which lingers over the distant mountain range.
I find the nasty black cloud in the top right corner a little distracting.
Just my 2 cents..
Where were they taken Mick?

I feel the first is a little tight at the bottom and a little too open at the top. The light looks beautiful and is just enough to hold the image together. But I think the composition could have been better.
I’m not sure about the cast of the sky in the second although the composition is perhaps the strongest of the three.
The third is very nice and my favourite of the 3 images. Love the mood and dramatic sky. The strange colours also work well in this image.
Beth: For the moment I’m sticking with my palette of colours and tones, what can I say but that I like them ;)
alzaphod: I’ll give the crop a go sometime soon. First was was taken just outside Newport, Co Mayo, looking towards Croagh Patrick. Second was taken close to Malaranny (sp), and the last was taken from the south end of Mullethead looking towards Achill.
Andy: I took a fair few here with tighter crops so I’ll have a looksee what I can do. I agree, there’s too much up top – guess that’s the designer in me shooting images and leaving space for type, something I might be too conscious of when snapping. Thanks for the reply to the PM, it got me thinking so I’ll post up a few tomorrow with minimum potatoshopping and colour casts.
