Nicely done. Great focus and DOF. A little blown out on the top left of the head but I could live with it.
Was this in the raptor centre in Sligo?

I actually took out the blown area at the top and for some reason it looked worse, maybe its down to my crap PS skills. :lol:
No, all the shots were taken in the UK where I was last week.
I “mislaid” my original piece of paper with all the various birds but will update the this and the other thread with the correct titles later now that I have them again.
I’ve had that over exposure over and over. Sometimes the shadow/highlights control works and sometimes it doesn’t. It really depends on how much detail was catured in the original shot.
If you shot in RAW then you cn produce two different exposures in TIFF … one normal and one where the blown out still has detail (depending on detail being captured). Open both TIFF’s in PS. Select one (never remember which one so I usually end up doing this both ways) of the images and copy and paste it over the other. In Windows, press CTRL + SHIFT + ALT + ~ all at once. This selects either the blown out or the normally exposed area (you may have to reverse the selection). You should then delete your selection (you can feather it) to reveal a balnced looking exposure. If the resulting image looks gank then start over again by pasting the other image over or reversing your selection.
Sometimes this works and sometimes it doesn’t. I used it on the breast of the Redshank I posted last night (it was totally blown thanks to hard side lighting).
And the ID on this one is easy, even for me … mature North American Bald Headed Eagle.

Its great the things you can learn here – like there is a raptor centre in Sligo! Definitely going on my list of places to visit in the near future. :-)
