That’s a shame Vincent, the only weekend I’m not around. The beach is great place for sunrises as is the rocky area under the lighthouse. In the middle of the town itself there’s a lovely small quay with some colorful boats, always good for shot or two. There’s also some very interesting architecture in and around Youghal with the clockgate being the main focal point in the middle of the main street.
Moving east you will find the river blackwater which is better for sunsets. Also towards the east is the small village of Ardmore which is really beautiful. Between Ardmore and Youghal you’ll also find some lovely small beaches, one of these is Goat island which isn’t an island at all :D this is really worth a visit as it must be one of the nicest beaches in the country. A very well kept secret so if you do find it don’t tell anyone. :D
If you do visit Ardmore your might be lucky and spot dolphins or the odd whale from Ram head just outside Ardmore, you will have to walk there but it’s relativity easy and take about an hour. Ask in the village for directions.
Hope this help, Have a great weekend and do post up some images of our beautiful town. Looks like the weather gods will be good to you also, enjoy.
Dave.
PS. Have a look at my Facebook page which has plenty of shots from the surrounding areas.
Thanks very much for that Dave, I’ve printed it out and will bring it with me on the trip. I ‘ve also checked out your facebook photos, some excellent shots there as well.
Cheers
Vincent
