I got the sigma 1.4 lens about a year ago ,the autofocus doesn’t always work and when your using 1.4 the dept of field is so small it’s almost impossible to manually focus (doesn’t always focus on the right spot) in low light.
I’d say the 1.2 focuses automatically no problem ,in lower light condition than the 1.4 I have and I can shoot in almost darkness.
The lens is ?1292 at ac-foto so I don’t know where the 1600 Dollars is coming from.
To be honest thorsten ,I’m only using elements 4.0 at the moment ,as soon as I know the basics I’ll move on.
I used Unsharp mask to try and get that grain that is viewable close up in prints ,then I just adjusted the hue and colour ,temp to try and get the tint i wanted
Appreciate the feedback ,I would have liked someone walking along the footpath ,but it’s a quiet street :(
I understand totally what your saying ,I’ll give it another go.
I buy black and white photography ,I don’t do black and white shots but I find it interesting to read about the photographers that are interviewed in it.
With regards to the other magazines ,I can’t help thinking it’s an advertising fiasco.
The same few “digital orientated” magazines ,seem to be layed out almost like they are from the same press.
Just to fill the shop shelves.
thanks steve and mick ,steve I think because my monitor is not set up right the image you’ve done looks a little harsh on my screen :(
Mick I like the way the darkness brings out the lake and hides the haze ,is that called vignetting ??? .
Cheers ken ,
Valentia ,thanks man for that ,the sky is a lovely blue , I used a polariser for another shot and it didn’t come out right at all.
I spent an hour or so around there ,trying to get to grips with the 10-20 lens .I found myself half way down the mountain at one stage .Didn’t realise until I had to come back up how fat I am :o
PS The sooner the weather gets colder the better ,the haze will lift I hope.
Can be used alright ,but to me the 200 range is not as good as the 300 .
Basically I think for such a short field of view the range could be a bit further.
I love the field of view with it ,as it was intended ,but with the crop factor I feel it’s a little short both ways.
I think the 50mm 1.2 is comparitively priced ,the 35mm 1.4 is a couple of hundred euro more expesive.
If the 50mm 1.2 turns out to be a good lens ,I think it’s one I would invest in down the road.
