Thanks for that link ed. Was just looking at amazon you can buy a sigma 18-200mm lens for less than the 18-135mm Nikon……..wuld it be worth buying cheaper lens or is it really oyu “get what you pay for”??????
Hi robbie, Nikon service centre will look at it but said from sound of the damage i may have to get a new one. Thankfully ins will cover anything over 120 euro to either repair or replace it…thankfully i had it itemised in my home ins…. PRoblem is finding that lens hard to get it sold separately as its a kit lens…..cant afford a better lens as i still have to get a flashgun.!!! Its never ending
Hi Robbie the ironic thing is i hadnt the 18-135 lens on the camera!! I have a lens that goes up to 420 on the digital from my F55 and had put 18-135 on the table(it duly fell to the floor), its the lens not camera that is damaged. I have the camera insured on home ins from day 1. (anything over certain value has to be itemised or it wont be covered). Not sure with the excess whether i could go that way.
Thanks for ypur replies….oh to have my own printer. I am holdong out til i can afford a really good one, and that wont be for a while. Thanks Thorsten that was a great link certainly clarified things for me. Think i will look at photobox, it might be worth a go.
Cheers
Hi robbie, delighted you got your d80 will be interested to see how you get on with. There is so much to learn………LOL at your “just started mt DSLR fund” postings. As i am still in middle of film course its hard to get the time i would like with the digital.
Aidan i am shooting in the raw! What shold i be shooting in????
Having just purchased the d80 from B&h, it only worked out around 150 euro cheaper than here as it has come down in price here in the last month. I had forgotten tax doesnt show in their list price! Anyhow difference between US and Import goods in B&H (and it tells you on their website if you click on “import”) is , that US models can be returned to any Nikon dealer in the US (doesnt mention abroad) and import models have to be returned to B&h to be repaired. Looking at getting the SB600 through B& H as it is considerably cheaper than here. The Mack 5yr warranty is around 100euro by the way.
Hi Spinman hope you are not disheartened, you have good composition….practice makes perfect, c&c is all about improving ourselves as photographers. I have yet to post a picture…but hope to in coming weeks. And as a beginner feel that i have learnt alot on this forum, but such a long way to go.
