I think mine might be 400W. It’s the D-Lite 4 kit. But like yourself I’m working in a small area so have them turned down quite low. My experiments so far are high key, using a white bed sheet as a background (after lots of ironing!). I’ll have to find a darker background for the next shots.
These look great. I’d be delighted with them. What was your setup for the background, and how far was it positioned behind the kids ? Did you just use one light or one main and one fill ?
I just picked up an Elinchrom kit myself in Gunn’s last week but I don’t have any backgrounds yet.
Tiny – I’m not sure it’s a peregrine either, as they had signs up with the different bird types, and I think I would have noticed if it had said it was a peregrine (as I’ve heard lots about them but never seen one before). It does look a little like one from photos I’ve compared it against though. I’d say it was about 30cm from head to foot.
I’m no wedding photographer, but I think they are very good. It’s a pity about the groom’s expression in the first one – the bride looks really relaxed but his smile looks a bit forced. The third shot I think is excellent. The last one, I’m wondering if it’s a little over-processed ? It’s like they’re running into a storm :-)
I’d be delighted with myself if they were my first wedding shots though – well done.
Thanks I’ll have to try shooting through the fence. This must be Matt then. He was out just over a week ago when I was there. He has quite a roar all right!
That’s a really unusual shot. For a minute you think “what’s that!”. Well captured. There was something that put me off taking photos of the owl(s) the last day I was there. Are they behind a thick net fence or something like that ?
Thanks folks. No2 was a bit of an accident! I had focused for another portrait when it started flapping it’s wings. By the time I zoomed back out it had stopped :-(
The birds were perched on some fairly ugly plastic perches, which is why I left the feet out. Nice birds to photograph though.
