Some lovely shots, maybe a few more of the couple, lit well with good expressions. I know you’re only showing a few but there are a lot of “Style” for style’s sake in these. I’m sure the couple are delighted.
Off-camera flash is not over the top if it is used appropriately. Natural light rarely gives the perfect balance of modelling, contrast and separation so nearly all shots benefit from a bit of help (usually bounced flash). The shot that you’ve posted looks murky, like someone has dipped it in a cup of coffee. For toning, try and be more subtle, maybe use the picture as the mask so as only to apply the toning to the dark areas and leave the whites clear.
1st and 3rd, nice expressions, is that the Leaning Tower of Pisa behind them?
The second shot looks really odd, I’m trying to work out where the sun is in the picture. The shadows seem to be falling in different places throughout the shot.
Thanks guys,
I see what you mean, it’s her forehead where the grain looks a little odd. It prints beautifully, I thunk the oddness is due to downsizing for web.
I’d also look at a small sensor camera for better DoF for inclose small product shots. I used to use a Panasonic GF1 for this type of work over a D3 with Macro lens.
It would depend on the type of photography you do. try the DXOMark site, this compares sensors and lenses and breaks down the analysis into faster/low-light cameras and highe resolution cameras. It also looks at colour depth, dynamic range etc.
The Nikon D7000 is one of the better crop sensor cameras around at the minute.
