    Hey MDC,
Im no car photo pro of anything, so take this with as little a pinch of salt as you wish,
    1. is too tilted, I had to tilt my head to make sense of it.
    2. needs some motion or something, the car just isnt interesting enough to make the photo interesting while its stationary.
    3. suffers from the same over-tilt as the 1st one, also its too straight on the left headlight, cant tell if the light is on, or its blown out, also the image looks a little soft, not a style id like with car pictures.
    4. is well taken and all, although maybe the tilt is just wrong, the background is seriously lacking IMO, maybe an urban scene or something would be more interesting than an open grass area.

Like I said tho, take this with a very small pinch of salt, I dont know car photography, just know what I like.

    Regards

    Thanks Si,
Appreciate the help, I tried that with the aperture ring, problem persists unfortunately, and I bought it 2nd hand so no returns policy.

Frustratingly, the problem with the lens is back again, turns out its not the contacts problem like I thought.
Fiddled with it frustratedly and have found that the lens is a slightly loose mount so if you twist it clockwise(looking at lens) it will work fine, but as soon as it slips back, even as slightly as it does, the lens reports an error, although it still meters and works fine.
Anyone ever have this problem? And is it fixable?

    Hi Ramona,
There’s no such thing as a stupid question when it comes to questions about photography.
In my opinion, if you can afford a macro lens definitely get one. Sigma do a 70-300 lens
which has a macro switch on it, its only about €120 in town and is excellent.
You can certainly reverse mount your lens but why bother when there are dedicated lenses to do the job?
If you really get into it, a macro bellows would be a good option for you, they are only
about 30-40Euro online and offer huge magnification in conjunction with your lens.
    Either way, have fun,
    Alan

    Hey cathald,
I would say go for the d200, or if you can afford it, hold on til you can get the d300, imo, a much better camera.
d80 is a nice camera anyhow, used one for a good while before upgrading.

Yeah, just updated it last week, got the lens around the same time, hoped it was the firmware thats at fault.
i hear there is a new firmware coming out v.soon, will update to that then and hope for the best.
you know anything thats good for cleaning lens contacts?

Thanks random, I have tried a new extreme 4 and an old cheaper unbranded cf card but the problem still occurs. it writes the images just fine either way, had thought it could be a contacts problem between the lens and camera, not sure tho.

I read this with great interest, I used to live in an apartment in Chapelizod, its a few years back now, cant even remember the name of it, its next to the west county hotel.
Anyways, when I moved in there was a phone connected already, which I used for a few days, hey free phone, it got disconnected a few days later, so I called eircom to have them reconnect it and gave them all my details. They downright refused to believe that there was ever a phone in the apartment, said the number I gave them was non-existent and they didnt even have the apartment complex on file.
I left it, dial up was crap anyway and broadband wasnt so easy to get then. A few days later the same phone that never existed rang, a family member, line was obviously working again.
I did as anyone peeved at eircom’s ineptitude would do, hooked my pc upto it and used their old dial up for the next few months. never did get a bill..
Funny that Chapelizod is still an enigma as far as Eircom are concerned.
