Class… it’s a pity about the reflection on the top right. One thing to be careful about is that it’s illegal to photograph and publish Gardai that are on duty, if they are identifiable. So be careful!
“the taking of a photo of a garda while on duty is not illegal however the publication of said photo is, if the member of the force is identifiable. However if the photograph is of a member of the garda whom acts unlawfully or against the public good, then the garda is no longer acting as a member of the force but as an individual and therfore the photograph may be published”
It sounds like one man’s opinion. There is no mention of what legislation makes it illegal. If there was such a law our newspapers standard fare of technical bureau at crime scenes and local gardai standing on guard outside them would all be making their way through the courts on a regular basis.
He looks to be slightly out of focus to me. It looks like focus fell on the seats nearest you on the right-hand side.
I also agree that his position in the frame isn’t ideal.
He doesn’t look to be a happy camper :D
Not quite as it came out the studio, but had a little fun with this – love to hear any thoughts:
C&C welcomed, as always.
Tim
Hi Tim,
I’m afraid I really dislike the treatment you’ve given it. She looks like she’s been at the Mars bars.
I really don’t see the point, but then I never was a fan of sandwiches (other than the O’Brien’s type) either.
AWESOME shot, don’t mind those flower snappers 8) (although the pan european in the background is disturbing..)
I love messing with slow shutter speeds and 1/30th sec is a tricky pan handheld, 1/15th is even better for isolating a particular section of the subject in focus ;
and heres what happens at 1/5th sec :? ;
Cheers Brendan, glad you like. The ST in the bg is a pity, but what can ya do?
The 1/5th one is mad. You’re lucky to get anything in focus at that speed :D
Love the slow speed stuff myself. Here’s one from the phoenix park races taken at 1/60th
My apologies I thought it was the lense…but just be careful then in Post-p about dust particles…
There’s no post processing on that shot. It’s straight out of the camera.
If I ever decide to print it I’ll be cleaning it. It’ll probably remain as is though…
Thank you for the constructive criticism. The lens is fine. It’s the sensor that needs to be cleaned.
At least I’ve given you something to laugh at, so I suppose I’ve accomplished something…
I thout it was Arizona. I got a free brochure from the state tourist board a few years back and it had a photo like this on the cover. Just, I think your is better. I like the offset angle with the lead in because it’s different. The clouds really make it work.
Thanks Aidan!
Those clouds were fabulous alright. :D
did you do much post proccessing on it thesky is breathtaking.
The only pp was levels, shadow contrast and a warming of the colour temperature to bring it closer to the original scene (I hadn’t set the colour temp in the camera).
The sky is real and untouched. It was a photographer’s dream but unfortunately I couldn’t stop for long as I was part of a (non-photography) tour at the time.
Love the two B&W ones Gerry. The 1st is way out ahead on it’s own imho. The closed eyes make it. The 3rd one is a cracker as well, with th efaraway look in his eyes, but it doesn’t show what he does as well as the 1st. Looks like a shot that could just as easily have been taken on a trawler.
