Hi Dsapkota, Are you ever based in Ireland or do you visit Ireland often with any of that equipment? Just interested as it is probably a big factor in interest. Also how old is the Canon 500mm lens?
Don’t be an early adopter you’ll end up crying, apparently recalls over wifi antenna being to weak to pick up signal, wait for the 3g version in 4 months by then they will have ironed out all the problems or most of them.
Yeah I have heard that the early ones will be full of glitches and to wait a while for the usual product updates!
However I dont think sales are slow as was said by Greenie Meanie! From what I heard they are sold out in the USA!!
Yeah I am not sure if there is a filter holder for the Sigma one. Think it is just a filter and you put it in that way. Had a look in Conns yesterday but it was black so couldnt ask anybody but was looking at their filter cabinet and didnt see anything that was 46mm! Think I will be searching a bit on this one!! Yeah the Sigma one also has a Thumbwheel that you can adjust the polariser with…just need to get one first!!
Thanks for that mikiG :) I am looking for one for my Sigma 300mm and from what you say it seems that they may be specialist and obtained from the lens manufacturers. It seems there are a few screws that need to be unscrewed and then you put it in but I woould rather not touch them until I have a filter to put in!!! Will ask in Gunns do they have one…
AidanM: Thanks for letting me know ;) Will take a look at their site now and hope they haven’t all been snapped up!! Yeah I always hate it when I say something has never happened to me coz then I feel I have hexed myself  Burning to DVDs is a good idea I never really considered…
Martin: Yeah I always shoot in RAW and JPEg and save the JPEGs onto the PC. Sometimes I dont bother with the RAW files which is criminal really and partly the reason I am broaching the question of getting a proper storage system together
Thanks for all the advice guys :D Steve, would you say the drive at the Argos link is decent value?
I know what you mean about the need not to scrimp and I have to get around to getting a few decent drives. I think I will wait and not go on impulse as I want that guarantee of not having a dodgy drive. In light of the issues of hard drives I have become more aware that I probably save lots of rubbish that could be binned too!!!
Thanks for the reply :) I took a look at the link you attached and that looks decent enough value  I might try and pick it up next week when I get a chance. My photos need a new home :D
Congrats to Gary on a lovely winning photo :) Thanks again Mark for all the work put in to running the competition. Now on to Round 2 and Workers workers workers!!
As far as I was aware the All Rights Reserved status of a photo restricted all this but maybe I was wrong! I will have another look at the options tonight; thanks for the advice Martin :)
Yeah as Ballyman says the Sigma lens is also an option! I picked one up 2nd hand a while back and its a decent enough lens! Plus it is much cheaper than 3-4 grand which would serve your short term requirements.
You say that you are looking for long glass but does it have to be f2.8? If you weren’t that bothered by this you could go for the longer Sigma options such as the 50-500mm??
Yeah I guess you are right. I think that they are distracting but I suppose it is trying to strike a balance between letting people view them and giving people the ability to reproduce the photo without credit etc. I was surprised when I put some photos on Fllickr only to see an album with them on somebodys Facebook photo album!
Very interesting photos. I like the perspective :) Would it be possible to get the opposite side of the fence with the horses coming towards the fences?
I got a sensor cleaning pack at the weekend. Its for full frame and uses a wet swab followed by a dry swab so after watching a few youtube tutorials I will give it a go!! If I remember looking in Conns a few weeks back it costs 60 euros to get the sensor cleaned on a camera. Dont really know who else does it but I have heard that the ISS (Image Supply Systems) also specialise in sensor cleaning…
