It’s an awesome location, it’ll be gone by next month though as it melts away…. but next year it’ll be back but totally different ;-)

super job Bren I would love to head northwards to capture the lights or “Rory the bollox ” as it’s known as up here by a good few phototogs, any chance you could stick up a KP 2 photo so to compare the 2, with a kp of 3 and the BZ’s in the minus we can get a faint glow up here in Donegal

Yeah sure this is a level 1.3 on the Kp index.

Fab shot and not one reply or comment? Great work Brendan :)

What’s going on in this forum…it seems to have died. I make no excuse for myself as I have felt the winter blues and shite weather and I have not been out much… but come on… this is a great image!

Nice Comp and shot Rafal…. but the colours look to be pumped up a bit to much.

In the right place at the right time, Bren!

Did you use any light painting on the arch? Incredibly how you got it in the 30 seconds or so exposure. I might be wrong here, but since there are no trails in the stars, it must have been a short exposure. Really, really cool!

    Hi Dan,
Light painting on the arch using my handheld torch, and you are correct it’s a 30 second exposure… as I was painting the arch and at about 10 seconds into the exposure the fireball lit up the sky :D it lasted for about 2 seconds…. boy I would have been sick if I was between exposures

Really like this, It’s my aim this year to take more shots at night, something like this would be great. It’s the detail in the sky that makes this shot.

Would you my sharing your technique and settings.

    Dave.

Hi Dave, Setting are: iso 1600 FL 16mm Ap: 2.8 Exp: 33 seconds. Side of the boat light painted with my handheld torch during the exposure.
    I hope this helps.

It was light from his torch that illuminated his face also :)
