Right, so stupid question alert! Can I use other brand lenses on my 7d? For example, you mentioned Zeiss and Leitz along with other equally sounding Germanic names.
So can I use these on my camera? Sorry, told you it was a stupid question!
Wow, what a fantastic answear! Clearly many years of experience there, along with blood, sweet and tears!
Mainly want to get the best lens for doing portraits of my children and friends. A hobby I’m just returning to after a few years away from it. My creative spark has kicked in again and looking forward to covering my walls with shots I can be proud of!
Thanks again for taking the time with that fine answear.
Thanks for that much appreciated! I had been heading in the direction of 50mm 1.2. That’s the second time I’ve heard it’s difficult to use. Will look at the longer focal lengths. I’ve heard that its best to use a prime rather then zoom, is this to do with getting higher quality enlargements?
With the canon software, I use zoom browser to view and download the raw files I want to my computer, then I open digital photo pro. To edit just open the individual pic, the right click and select tool palette. once edited, highlight the files you have edited and click batch process to convert to jpegs.
Jonny, just completed my first RAW image processing, so thanks for the tips!
Have tried downloading photoshop, spent ages and several attempts later was told not enough memory on laptop, at which point t felt like throwing the blooming thing out the window!
I might try Brendan’s suggestions and see if I have more success. I’m dying to try out Lightroom and the Vintage Chroma plug in!
Yeah sorry, I’m a bit confused about what order in which to use the camera software. On my desktop I have Picture Style editor, Zoom Browser, Digital Photo Professional and EOS Utility. If there is a tutorial for it I would. I would be delighted if you could download it for me. I’m fairly new to digital so still trying to get to grips with all technical stuff!
Thanks for sharing your experiences, sounds like you were up against it! But the beauty of it is you can bring these lessons onto your next shoot. I’m still sticking to friends and family and even get nervous at that! But nerves are good, it means you care about what you’re doing.
Thanks for that! I actually spoke to Peter a few weeks ago, great fashion photographer. I’ve signed up for a one day course in Dublin Photography School so I’ll see where I go from there.
I’ve also been looking for this type of info and the one thing that keeps coming up is to only include the best of the best of your work. I guess you’d include examples from the different areas ie. portraiture, landscape etc.
Your website looks great, love the race car shot! Seems your well on your way to a professional career, fair play!
