This is the kind of great feedback I have been waiting for on my photos and is the primary reason I joined.

For your info I was using a Canon EF 28 135 IS USM with a Canon 350 Rebel XT.
I take a lot nof GAA and sports photos. Yes, I know I need a bigger faster lens!

    Many thanks.

    Hi Lily,

Both my teenage daughter and myself have the Canon 350D, which was superceded by the 400. We joined this forum last year and I was recommended the Sigma 17-70mm by other members, which I bought. Since this lens was constantly “missing” from my camera bag, I got the Canon EF28-135 F/f.0-5.64 from Argos on Christmas Eve. Both lenses are great value for money and are in constant use here! You won’t go wrong with the lens from Argos, especially at that price. When the learning curve is climbed you can invest in great lenses, especially, if you buy when in NYC or import from Hong Kong! I would recommend that you go to a good camera shop with your 400 and try out a number of lenses too. It would probably be wise to delay your purchase until you have finished the course.

    Bese of luck!

I finally got the lens from Argos on Christmas Eve. No complaints so far, though will give it a full test hill walking next week.

We have a couple of Canon 350’s in the house. For ?289, it’s a bargain and this lens suits us perfectly, epecially when being shared by me and my teenagers.

    Here’s another good review..

    I’ve started using http://www.pix.ie

It’s a new Irish startup and not that sophisticated yet.
The guys behind it seem to have plans to develope it as a Flickresque type site.

    Hi Randomway,

I really enjoyed looking at these.
An unusual and captivating social history.
    Great lighting and composition.

    Thanks for the link.

    Hi Phil,

Many thanks for the quick reply.

I’m going to order it from Argos and sneak it in under SWMBO’s radar as Santa crashlands!

The Argos website doesn’t give the full spec. Can you confirm to this old dog for the hard road that this lens is the Canon 28-135mm F3.5-5.6 IS USM?

If it is, Berminghams are quoting ?499 and a site in Hong Kong is quoting ?388. I am thinking of getting it from Argos to add to the family lens stock as my Sigma 17-70 walkabout lens is going walkabout… two Canon DSLR’s on site!

As someone who takes GAA pics of my son’s team every weekend, I really appreciate these pics.

Hurling is a majestic sport and when captured well on camera really distinguishes us from the rest of the planet!

The 400 lens really does the biz.

Nice shots as they are… don’t tinker with them!

Many thanks for the replies and PM’s.

I went fror the Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4.5 DC Macro lens . It arrived today and looks the dogs, though I will push it to the limit on a field trip hopefully over the next few days.

The Tokina 12-24 is on Santa’s list!
