Was there in 2006 myself, and encounterd the same cloudy problem as well. Got up at 6, and took the 1st bus up, and it was lashing it down. I couldn’t see more than 40 yards at any time, and after a few hours got bored actually (which is a horrible thing to say!). Went for lunch at the gatehouse, and after an hour or so, the clouds lifted, and when I went back in again, I was totally blown away by what lay in front of me. Absolutly stunning place, and I couldn’t be dragged away…. Climbing up the mountain to see an overview of the place was unbelievable. It gives you an idea of the vastness of the place, and how it is built on the top of the mountain. Notice how the top of it is shaped like a Condor. I nearly missed the last bus out again……
Will post a couple of shots to give you an idea.
Love the 2nd shot. You have captured the place very well, and the light is amazing.
Know the place well, and have seen many shots of the Boathouse over the years, and this one is the best I have seen so far.
Well done.
Maybe you should contact the owners as they would definetly be interested in these shots.
Here are another few photos, as requested!
What an Island, and what a history. We have a lot to learn from what happened to this Island.
What a magical place to live in. I would have no problem living there…..
Did this trip a few years back, and it is a photographers dream…..
When doing Kili, you will only need to carry your camera in your day bag, as there is really no need to carry a tripod or zoom during the day.
Put your tripod and zoom in your main rucksac as this will be carried by the porters. Using your tripod in the evenings is a must for the wonderful sunsets, and for some fun shots at night.
As for the Safari, take loads of memory, and whatever zooms you have. The drivers will stop any time you ask, and be ony too happy to do so.
You will not be dissapointed with amount of shots you will get. Early morning is the best time for shooting as most wildlife are out hunting. With a bit of luck, you might get the chance to see a kill.
The sunrise and sunset on the Serrengeti are just magical.
If possible, book your trip to co inside with a full moon as this adds a special magic to the trip.
I f you want any info on the trip, just pm me and we can talk a bit more.
Best of luck with the trip, you will love it.
As this is my 1st post, it’s in relation to this subject as it is an avenue I have gone down recently.
I purchased the Ulead Video Studio 11.5 plus a couple of weeks ago and it is just amazing.
The quality of the finished article is top notch, and that’s watching it on a 42″ screen…..
It has amazing features, including the Rob Burns effects.
I have recently photographed a couple of weddings and put the photo’s into a dvd slide show with music,
and the couples have loved it. Roughly 150 photo’s, 3/4 songs and lasts about 12 – 15 minutes.
Without a doubt, a fantastic way for the couple and friends to see so many shots with their choice of music.
Takes a bit of time putting it all together, but the end result is amazing.
