while i was going through the process of voting i could not get this nagging thought out of my head. that while the photographs are, in my very untrained opinion, very good technically, there was a lack of imagination and ambition in most if not all. i agree that flowers and birds and insects are living things in this world, and that if you look at their lives it can almost be a world in itself, but i feel that the theme is much more than what seemed like a large number of nature photographs.
as a theme, ‘The Living World’ is quite a hard one to contain in a split secong image but i was bored before i was half way through. alone or in another context all the images are wonderful but to encapsulate such a broad subject i am not sure. i didnt enter an image, i realise thats its very easy for me to judge and pass comment. neasaying was not my intention. unfortunately there is no one around to rant at so this thread has to suffer it.

of course you can ask, when i rang i was told i could have the lot, i had no idea what i was getting or in what condition. the next day i rang to confirm and the person said there had been alot of interest after me so the lots had been split in twain, i got one enlarger and someone else got the other. which i think was the fair thing to do.

i was looking at other equipment on donedeal.ie, there was also some on adverse.com
    i am using both 35mm and 120mm
hope those websites help if dont already know them.

found an ad for a durst m601 and other equipment for free so hopefully that will pull through. it could be all crap but its free crap and i figure what ever it is is more than what i have now which is nothing

i could not have been more wrong, met the person from the ad, drove to their house and they preeceded to give boxes and boxes of stuff plus a durst m805 in perfect condition. when i got a chance to have a rummage i discovered everything i need plus a whole lot more. i was takin back by the generosity, wonderful attitude. instead of letting it collect dust somewhere pass it on to someone woh will use it. cant praise them enough, all ineed now is chemicals…and knowledge…and talent. but i have a start now at least.

i am far to easily influenced, just got eddie ephraums book in the post today. i feel i have read all i can read without doing, i have gone as far as i can without experience. learn by doing and so on and so forth. still on hunt for darkroom gear, found an ad for a durst m601 and other equipment for free so hopefully that will pull through. it could be all crap but its free crap and i figure what ever it is is more than what i have now which is nothing. fingers crossed. thanks for the advice by the by.
