Ron, These are copies of jpeg that I put up on facebook so they aren’t the originals. I shot them all in RAW and then converted them to DNGs as I was bringing them into lightroom. I’m very new to lightroom so I am still working my way through tutorials Im going to doa course Sunday week to give me a kick start with it. I love using it but Im sure there are lots of things I could be doing with it. Thanks for the flash tip I will give that a go.
Hi Westbury, yep I prefer to use natural light as well where at all possible…I’m not a huge fan of using the flash but I would admit thats cause I’m not comfortable with using it. Something I have to work on !! I love reading Neil Van’s stuff, he was supposed to come to Ireland this year but he cancelled it, very disappointed !!
Next one isn’t until September so plenty of time to work on what I’ve learnt.
Thanks so much for remembering :) Well 973 photos later I came out alive !!! I really enjoyed it and I had nerves at the start but when i got into it I was flying. I learnt lots. I had the two D200s on the go and unfortuately I didn’t get to F8, not enough light even at 1600 ISO to go any more than F3.6 …. I am happy with what I got, there are some I don’t have that I wish I had. I wish I had been more forcefull, the couple wanted to get the photos over as quick as possible so I don’t have a huge range of variations on the posey ones. Next time I’ll be more forcefull on that front. I had good feedback from other guests. So hopefully the couple will be happy with what I’ve got. I’m trying to whittle it down to 200 pics or so now for post processing and hopefully I’ll have 100 that I am satisfied with to give to them. I’ll post up some of my favourites for C&C when I get that far :) I know they aren’t prize winners but we all start somewhere, so hopefully this is a good foundation for onwards and upwards :)
Oh another thing I learnt was to check that there isn’t a locked door half way up the stairs leading to the gallery that you want to take the group shot from ;)
Hi Jenny, My husband is coming with me & going to help with the rounding up and he is well used to holding a reflector :). We know alot of the brides family so thats going to help alot. The Church grounds in Howth are lovely so I am going to try get the must have’s out of the way there before everyone disperses. It also has a great balcony inside so after I get the Bride & Groom coming down the aisle I am going to get them to stop at the end of the pews and I can run upstairs to take the group shot, captive audience so to speak :)
Really looking forward to it now, can’t wait to get stuck in. Hopefully I’ll get some shots good enough to post up here for c&c, fingers crossed.
