It is better in colour, just trying to get some decent looking B&W shots. This shot is straight out of the camera.
Made the sky darker myself as it was bland to begin with, thought the spire needed a good contrast with the background to have a chance of standing out.
A very cold and stark shot. The overexposure gives it an uneasy feel, excellent. It’s a bit of a pity the top of some of the poplar trees are missing though.
Cheers.
They were taken with a point and shoot (no SLR’s allowed and it was being enforced), so that’s why the colours are over saturated and very noisy. I tried a black and white conversion but they looked terrible.
Thanks Martin,
Your right it’s totally out of context on its own. It was quite difficult to get good shots in the exibition room, lots of people etc.
Anyway these are some shots from the memorial above ground.
Well your right, it’s kind of what I was going for. The sky is essentially what came from the camera, except for the first layer of cloud. The cityscape was black, but I used colour control points to “enhance” it.
I thought that the sky was a bit fake looking to begin with, and the picture could handle it.
