Hi Kindrum
As Cathal says , a camera club is a great place to learn as well. We have one set up in Letterkenny and we meet every monday Night in the RCC (behind the Theatre).Things that we do include
1. Activity Nights , where members present a topic they either researched or have a good knowledge of
2. Have Photo themes where members submit a photo each month, this really make you get out there and shoot.
3. Currently in the middle of a 2/3 night course on Photoshop basic and this will advance over time.(again given by one of our members)
4. Have day trips
and basically do what most camera clubs do.
We have only set up last Summer , but personally myself I’ve picked up a lot from it since then – Still have a long long way to go, but enjoying it.
If you’re interested why not call in any Monday Night to the RCC (from 7:00-9:00)

Guys
Thanks for the replies, I’ve downloaded picasa and I can view them on that ,Excellent.
Dermot : I have photoshop but I was having to open each image to view,I was wanting something to do a quick scan over them and pick the best of.
John I’ve changed my setting on the camera to NEFF+JPEG, I hadn’t picked on that till you mentioned it.That should work fine for me.
Thanks Guys for taking the time out to answer to my question, great knowledge among you.
Cookster : I did have the diffuser cap on, would that have been the difference in lighting up my subject and what I ended with ??
Gaffo : I wouldn’t have studied my flash too greatly but when I went to look at it , it is in the mode RPT and going through the modes I see BL coming up beside the TTL on one of the modes. I presume I should have it in the TTL (only)mode for most of my pics.
Dave : Again thanks for your efforts in taking down the photo. I had tried it in auto P and A as well without any success.Exposure compensation was at zero but I was messing around with that as well , not sure it’s setting for this photo.Checked on the Flashlight and it is showing 0ev ,but again I have been in the wrong mode so I wonder is that where my problem is.
Are these 2 points a critical factor inmy under exposure
1. Wrong mode selected on Flashlight, set at RPT – Should it be set at TTL for example.
2. Diffuser Cap left on.
Thanks to everyone who helped me on this thread.I got my SB800 now I’ll need a course on how to learn to use it, let alone use it properly but hopefully through time that will happen. My wife found B + H an amazing store she went up Sunday morning at 9:45 and there was about 200 queuing to get in 10:00 (this was after going up on saturday to find it closed ( I think they are jewish)).
Thanks for the replies folks. Culchieboy how has your Grey Market Product been,is it in any way inferior to the one that would have given you a warranty (no experience in Grey market stuff, but I am aware of it).Orla can I have a guide price to what I would expect to pay for an SB800. Is there any bargining to be done. It’s my Wife that is going to get it for me and I don’t want her to be using up alot of her time looking around as she’s there for only a few days. Are there any recognised suppliers/Shops around lower Manhattan (or Woodbury Common), that’s where she’ll be.
Many Thanks again.
