I like that result you’ve got there – still not had a chance to try again with the filter (went out with it the other day, but was too hungover to work it all out, so settled for some ‘normal’ shots instead!). Hopefully in the next few days whilst we can still see the sun!

Thanks for the advice, everyone. In the end I’ve gone for the Hoya filter to start with – have only managed a couple of test shots so far as I need to read about how to get the most out of it. I agree that the shutter times are long, but with a tripod and remote, that’s OK. What’s not so OK is the inability to see through the viewfinder with the filter on, and therefore have to guess about focus, more or less. Early days yet – will post some results when I achieve something!

OK, so funds have now arrived – hoping this is still available. It’ll take a few days for the cash to arrive on my CC (and hence PayPal) or we could do a bank transfer tomorrow… basically, how would you like to be paid? Please let me know and I’ll set the wheels in motion.

That’s great news – I should find out tomorrow exactly when I’ll have the funds (hoping for next week at the latest) and as soon as I do, I’ll check back and see if your stuff’s still on offer. I will definitely buy it if it’s still available.

Is this still available? I would be interested, but have Christmas cashflow issues for a week or so (depends on a cheque arriving and clearing!) – but if it’s still available when my funds are, I’d be happy to pay the asking price. Will keep checking back, just wanted to express an interest!

I really like this – the contrast between foreground and background, nature and construct, make it for me. It’s not just visually appealing, it invites interpretation, too. Wish I’d taken it :)

I’m very interested in the Speedlite – just waiting for payment to arrive on credit card (Monday or Tuesday) and – if you haven’t sold it by then – would be delighted to take it off your hands at your asking price – can use Paypal, just let me know how to pay you :) Also interested in the Hoya filters – only joined this site today so am a bit clueless as to how I’d go about buying these things from you. In summary, I would like the Speedlite and both Hoya filters, at your asking price, but can’t do the purchase until Tues or Weds of next week. If that’s acceptable we have a deal (and the items would need to be sent to Mayo – happy to pay a reasonable postage price.

Please let me know how we proceed from here!

Also consider following the Clew Bay Archaeological Tour (signposted, also map available from the tourist office I believe) out towards Louisburgh – it’ll take you past Murrisk, with the pathway to Croagh Patrick, the National Famine Memorial, and Murrisk Abbey. Bertra strand, Old Head beach, Carramore – all great wide beaches with foreground rocks and pools – the piers at Old Head, Carramore and Lecanvey can be interesting too. If you continue on through Louisburgh (the Bunowen river runs through it, also good for photography), then take the road to the left, that’ll take you through the Doolough Pass (stunning!) along the side of the Killary (once thought to be Ireland’s only fjord, now thought to be a sunken valley), and then you’ll join the Westport road at the head of the inlet – turn left to get back to Westport, or right to continue into Galway and Leenane.
