Thanks for the responses everyone, it looks like there’s quite a variation.

I wasn’t contracted or paid by the club running the event to take photos so I wouldn’t see that I need their permission when the shot was taken on the open road. Unlike some events they didn’t have an exclusion order (or whatever the term is) on photos taken. However, I did contact the athlete in question and she was ok with it, saying you’d have to know her to recognise her.

Interesting though and on a different tack, does anyone know if it’s true that some state agencies are exempt from seeking a photographers permission for using photographs under the Copyright and Related Rights Act?

But here is an example of one I did today: Licence No. 20100928-00016534

That’s a great example Ashley, makes it nice and easy. One question though and it might sound silly! what is the Clause 5 detailing? And what would be typical Clauses 1-4? I’ve seen this in other examples, but it’s always overleaf and the overleaf isn’t viewable. Is it the T&C as outlined in the AOP download of Terms & Conditions for Eire?

    Thanks

    Thanks for your responses.

My lesson has since been learned….just doing a random search on the event and found one guy who put up on his flickr, the images of himself that I sent out with my copyright text cropped out (which I knew could happen) and no accreditation. Either or would have been good for me. Now, I’m not a Pro but it realllllllly annoyed me, (I can’t believe how much it has annoyed me!) and I will most definitely be revisiting what I do. An email has been sent….

Try talking to these guys http://www.camerarepaircentre.com/” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false; I dealt with Declan who did some repair work on my Canon. They might be able to help and at a lower cost to you than sending off via Canon.

Thanks a million John, that is great feedback and all points taken onboard. I’ll go and do my homework and repost here. It’s amazing how tough it is putting yourself in front of the camera, there’s so much to try and think of, including hitting the remote and not having it pointing up in the air….I like the suggestion of the strings, one or two ideas are coming to mind.

    Thanks again

Tamrac 6 – Redtop, I know you weren’t available to meet yesterday but if you’re still interested in viewing this, will you call me to arrange sometime Monday or Tuesday as I’m leaving Dublin/Kildare (for Cork) for good next Thursday, otherwise if anyone else is interested in it, I’ll sell it to the first person to contact me so it’s up or grabs. Tel. no. is 087 6023659.

I hadn’t looked in on this in a while as it’s ages since I advertised them so sorry for not replying quickly. Two people have contacted me directly (Redtop and Conor) about both of them so I’ll be giving them first refusal for having called me :-)

If they don’t go, the I’ll contact you vigaj on the Tamrac 9.

And Tadgh, yes you are hijacking my sale!! But you’re forgiven ;-) as I have potential buyers hopefully.

Price has now dropped on both of these. Moving house soon and could do with lightening the moving load :)
