Comment from a newish and raw (not RAW) shooter… I was told in a course I did recently that I should include foreground interest as a means of showing depth. However, my first reaction here is that the rocks in the foreground are so predominant that my gaze stops there and stays there.
I am a complete amateur and would have been proud to be able to produce something like this. I think it’s stunning, or am I showing my beginner’s status (1 year)? I know nothing of post production except what Picasa and View NX let me do. I doubt if they are up to producing this quality.
Many thanks, aoluain. I am looking forward to picking up a bit. I have a problem with uploading, though. Not sure how to do it as there is no Help page. I tried commenting on someone’s shot and had a suggested crop but it wouldn’t upload as I didn’t know what to click on. No doubt in time I will learn. The attraction for me here is the fact that much of what I see is close to me (relatively) as opposed to the streets of New York or the deserts of Arizona! It makes achieving great shots of, for example, seascapes, much more of an achieveable goal.
