    Thanks guys,

I wasn’t sure where to put it to be honest. I guess as a surfer my eyes are instantly drawn to the waves, so for me the subject of the shot is the surfer.
He is tiny in it alright though, but I kind of like that too. Getting this kind of scene to yourself is becoming rarer and rarer.

Mods feel free to move to landscape.

I’d like to see a B&W version too. Very explosive looking splash!

I’m not a big fan of the blurring though, I find it distracting and artificial, sorry! :)

    I think the title’s fine 8)

Thanks for the comments guys, I probably need to configure my monitor properly, and need to learn how to use Photoshop properly too!

I’d love a new long lens but right now I’m in no position to go spending any money on kit. Also sunny days and good surf aren’t exactly common in Ireland so when I do have a bit of cash it’ll probably be spent on waterproof housing rather than a long lens anyway.

Thanks Ali! I’ve been doing quick photo adjustments in iPhoto but they Contrast/Brightness changes don’t seem to export to the web for some reason. It must be using a different color space or something. Must start using Photoshop really but I’ll need more RAM for that.

Nice shots! I was in Portugal recently and to my eternal shame I didn’t take a single surf shot out there. Spent too much time surfing!

Apparently this was on the Canon website yesterday. Looks real to me

    400D, 70-200/4L IS and 50/1.2L

The 70-200 with IS would be nice, and lets hope they’re going to put the sensor cleaning into all of their new models.

In fact, here’s the man himself at Finians. He made this one too.

    Thanks for the comments guys.

ecp I reckon the housing with a wide angle lens would cost me around ?1500~ whereas a good long lens would cost me around ?1000-1300. I’ve convinced myself that the shots from out in the water would be far superior to shots from the shore which can all start to look the same after a while. Obviously a long lens is in the pipeline, but I think the housing could make for far more interesting shots. That’s my reasoning anyway, and I’m sticking to it! :D

Valentia, there’s a guy that lives down there that drives a Black VW Transporter Camper van and rides a longboard, look out for him the next time your down there. He’s a quality longboarder.

Every time I see that shot it just blows me away. Absolutely fantastic!
I’ve been going down there for my whole life but never went onto the Skelligs, gonna have to make time for a trip out there at some stage.
