Thanks everyone for the comments, Lorraine – There is no cross processing, just some shadow tweaks and added the vignette in Lightroom..
jlang – The rest of the images are basically untouched, just usual levels + sharpening in PS.
randomway – No flash used, believe it or not there was a great blast of light, something not seen around Dublin for a while and I agree about the guy on the right, its a pity the three in the background were not better positioned against the arch in the background but the moment wasnt really there to ask them to move.
hi niallo, this lens is not fixed at 2.8 – constant just means that you can have 2.8 at all focal lenghts. Some lenses require the aperture to narrow as focal lenght increases e.g would be marked as 3.5-5.6..if you just test put the lens in AV and turn the wheel you will see the aperture change and the shutter speed vary to compensate..
thanks Robbie, the guy in the fourth was was jumping across the road…there was a group of four of them in temple bar trying to jump across the road, jump from the railings etc…general tomfoolery  consistent with the youth of today..
Thanks Si, thats a great title…i think ill have to use that
here is another one, heads closer together with a small bit of more expression, eyes are a bit dark though. i actally prefer the first one simply because of the difference in expressions and the different eye lines..thats why the title is pure gold..
Thanks Dave and Si, all points noted. I must start using some reflectors where possible, try to prevent some of the awful shadows that the flash can produce.
Thanks Tim, I reloaded a quickly edited version but looking at it here in work it looks over cooked. It was fine on my monitor at home. As for permission, i asked for the bottom too, it wasnt necessary for the top one. The two guys on the bench were slighlt bemused to say the least..
I like the processing Tim and its nice and simple compositionally. Because there is not much going on I definitely think you should straighten it up (the bottom is slightly distracting) and play to the simplicity. I would also recommend a different border, one not so thick as it overpowers the image and highlights the fact that the bottom is not lined up.
