Love the first picture as its so pin sharp. I think there is a picture there in the second with the crack in the slipway taking your eye into the water, its just as is, its a little too busy a composition.

Here is the Flickr version. I’ve since cropped slightly and photoshop’d the wheel a little to remove the annoying white mark.

I’m not even going to ask about the user name, too much info.

If your still shy of somebody for squares no problem, put me down. The image I’m going to submit for the still life round is currently on the POTY round this month. “Potters Wheel”

I didn’t want any sky in the picture as i felt it would give some ‘relief’ to the somber mood the memorial creates, hence the closer crop. I must track back and see some of the other posts you mentioned to see how its been captured there.

The old guy obviously isn’t as slow as he walks getting you to hike the hill on his behalf. I think the request for bold colours is fine but would maybe reign in the sand midway through the image as the contrast against the frost covered sand at the bottom is what gives it a sureal edge for me.

Having lived in Cornwall for a couple of years, this image is a great record of the place. Endless small harbours like Mousehole that take you round to Lands End. Nice memories.

Fabulous shot that captures the mood brilliantly. Its not constructive comment but it is admiration.

Street, and only in the streets of London can somebody lie on the floor to take a picture and nobody gives a second look.

I’m going to go a little against the flow here and state a preference for the colour shot. I agree that I think the processing has gone too far, and am not familiar with the style of picture you were looking to emulate, so dont know if that is intentional. I think the story lies in his eyes and these stand out more in colour. A closer crop would remove some of the distractions at the side that add little and make for a very strong portrait I think.

For me the rain on the ground really lifts the image and lets the light bounce back. Great shot.

Great use of the zoom burst in your third picture, it really lifts it from an image we have all unfortunately seen too many time on the streets.
