I’ll put up an ad about this shortly but thought I would try this first. Is anyone here interested in buying my Hexar AF? It’s the black version … comes with boxes etc. Works fine. Only problem is that while I do have a flash unit for it, it doesn’t work. Bought it for 350 Sterling (as detailed on this thread). Get in touch by PM if you want to make me an offer …..
I have an M6 and I love it. Logic would certainly dictate they are not worth the money but there is something incredibly satisfying about a machine so perfectly designed and constructed. I enjoy the actual process of using it more than any other camera I have owned and that includes a Mamiya 7, a Rolleiflex, a Hexar AF (all of which I have sold on or .. in the case of the Hexar … am about to sell on).
Something like a Mamiya 7 (or those Fuji yokes that were mentioned) will certainly give you more resolution/detail and so on but they are also a pain in the ass to lug around the place. I ended up getting rid of all my Medium format gear and now have a 5×4 for the giant resolution and the Leica for everything else (which unfortunately right now is not much at all). I have a 50mm Summicron and it’s great.
However, I bought mine just before the recession took hold and I can’t imagine spending over 1K on a camera now. Which brings me to the obvious question. You are unemployed and are contemplating dropping over a thousand on a camera. Are you insane?!
Good point from scr33 about the Leica CL. There’s one for sale in the ads section right now I think ….
I’m not sure that just because there are no regulations that it then follows that there is no hazard. Though it certainly might explain why there does not seem to be any facilities for taking it off your hands.
I’ve been throwing it down the sink for ages now. I’m hoping there is a better option …
I was down in Ringsend recycling place the other day and asked them. They said no. Suggested trying one of the private waste disposal/recycling companies …
I’m not seeing anything on the websites of the local recycling centres about this and while I know I could probably pour the stuff down the drain, there must be a better way …
So if I understand it right, negative reclamation is for getting a negative that can then be scanned from some 100C or 100C45 film? So essentially it means you are getting a Type55 type deal … instant print + negative? That’s pretty cool.
I’d be grateful if you could dig out the link for where you are buying your 100C45 film from. Cheers!
The Fuji PA 45 holder does not work with the Fuji FP-100C film. Contrary to what many of the online stores that sell them seem to indicate. It works with the slightly larger (and more expensive) Fuji FP 100C45 film. Check it out here:
I think the FP-100C film is only for instant film cameras .. as far as I know.
I’m not sure where that leaves Vlad and whether the Polaroid 550 film he mentioned is compatible with FP-100C or FP-100C45 …
By the way, if anyone could let me know what other films (besides FP-100C45) I can get for my PA 45 holder I’d be really grateful. That stuff is stupidly expensive …
On multiple negs. I dry them by hanging them from a clothes line thingy with a peg on the corner of each one. I give them a quick run through some water mixed with a tiny bit of washing up liquid first. They are definitely not touching each other when drying ….
