Day #160 365 instant photo project
Sponge
Camera: Polaroid Land Camera 101
Film: Fuji FP-3000B
A photograph every day for a year- Alan has passed the halfway point now, with no sign of faltering.
An enjoyable series, with the occasional gem. I like this one from June, and a few others too.
This one really is a prototype-
I’m working on the next one now-
This one is much too heavy, it was sized for really large lenses.
The next one will be a proper field camera, with a design weight of 5 kg, and film holder weights of 400g each.
There have been many lessons learned from this one, and there will be many improvements made…
Users of Large Format are notoriously conservative, and I can’t see too many of them being willing to adopt a new system like this one-
It wouldn’t be cheap to produce either, so it would have to be a really premium product.
In addition to that, the market is really tiny, it’s a crazy thing to want to do.
So I wouldn’t want to have to explain the concept to any of the tightwads on Dragon’s Den, for example.
So, altogether, everything seems stacked against this being a commercial product.
Thanks Rob, Murchu, Alan-
Well saying that takes you back, reminds you of a simpler time…
Thanks for the offers to carry the small stuff, appreciated, and just what I need…
Alan, no, would be great to cast my own carbn fiber, but if I were to have attempted that it wouldn’t be built yet at all. All the carbon was cnc cut, by waterjet. It was a bit of an experiment, learned a lot…
Thanks Mark- yes, a mishap in the darkroom brought about some strange effects, and now I turn into Negative Man in the presence of Hypo…
Well spotted Isabella, it’s a Golden Rectangle, quite unusual for ULF… Still not used to it really-
