For me she is extremely photogenic which adds to the quality of the picture. Although the first pic looks empty with just two flowers in the air my eyes are constantly trying to scan for more detail (tickle my curiosity to see more).
I don’t know much about composition but from an artistic point of view I love both :)
…but one thing in general (not geared at all towards Aaron2d)…
There is a huge diference between being creative and making something look like a picture… I am not looking for an argument and I understand “creative juices” means something else for everyone but I do think pictures are being judged to what looks more towards real…
I know there is not a lot of people who vote or enter for that matter but it would’ve been great if we could vote for 2 categories…More picture like and crative…
I like this photo a lot… and by looking at it you can make up hundreds of stories about what is happening in it. The image is very crisp and clear and with the subject in focus it looks even better. Pity about the empty cans (looks like it) under the 2nd bench but I guess we can’t have it all. A nice landscape crop will also look very cool..
I like the 2nd one quite a lot with the depth (shadow) that you get from looking at the jetstreams. No3 is 2nd for me and is also great :)
I don’t know about no1… The duplication of waves caught my attention immidiately and actually makes me squint  (but that is just my opinion). I like the contrasting colours though :)
I see what you mean and with the 500D it might be a more economic buy than a 2nd hand 40D which you don’t really know if the previous owner had any issues. I’ll have a look at the prices for the 500D and yes the HD recording might come in handy as well and apart from that it is still more than Eur200 saving on just the body.
Guess this is why PI makes life a bit easier :)

Hi Jetpack,
I say get a 500D, as stated above , better value for money, besides, you get HD recording function as well!
Also, The 18-200, despite having a huge range, is said to be surprisingly good, and as a starters lens, you can’t go much better. Not a big fan of the 17-85, it has a lot of barrel distortion at 17MM.
There are some awesome pics you guys took on the outing. Hopefully next time I will have a decent enough camera to attend this kind of outing because it seems everyone enjoyed it :)
I never really gave thought to buying a good camera (new or 2nd hand) rather spending loads of money and not being able to buy one proper lens to start with. 99% of kit lenses with the 50D doesn’t seem to get the best of reviews from all the places I’ve visited (reviews).
So what I decided to do is see if I can find a reasonably new 40D and rather spend that bit of money I save towards a decent lens. Yes, it would be nice to use a few new functions on the 50D but I gree with you guys with putting that money rather towards one decent lens new or good 2nd hand.
That brings me to to a point miki_g made about so many lenses on the market. I don’t expect anyone to make a decision in what to buy but rather just propose to what lens/lenses I should try and focus on for what I want to photograph.
I am going to make a note of the 17-85 Focused mentioned because I guess outdoors, trees, landscapes, cars the occasional flower and general pics falls into that category..
This is the kinda pic that awakens all senses… Sitting here I feel the chill in the air and the freshness of early morning up the nose..
When you cover the clouds half way to where the sky above the clouds are completely covered it gives this picture a totally diferent feel… More like thunder and rain rolling in from afar…
For me this picture captured more than just another early morning. Great one aoluain :D
This is one of those pictures that doesn’t make any sense when you take it but it turned out beautiful and I really like it. I especially like the contrast between all the parts of the tent and the sky. It blends very well for me so thumbs up :)
In photography terms the G2 was a point and shoot :lol:
I’ve read, listened and looked at about every review of the 50D, 500D, 40D and one or two Nikons but because I don’t know Nikon it is difficult to warm to it.
When I bought my golf clubs a few years ago the salesman said “Why do you want to buy the best because it won’t make you play any better. Your game first need to improve…” I told him, well I’d rather be prepared for the moment my game does turn and at least in the meantime I have the opportunity to get to know my clubs and can’t blame the equipment for the failure. The idea is for the camera to become a companion just like the golf clubs.
With a course coming up one of these days I’d like to be prepared or to be able to take pictures of about anything but nothing in specific (love nature, scenery, landscape).
The 50D with 18-200 kit is what I have in mind… Not perfect but the best of both world it seems?
I don’t know much about photography (newbie) but from a grapical point of view (something I know better) I agree with wirepic about a little more depth to the sky.
PS) I guess you are still itching after crawling around in that field
