Lovely shot Neil – foreground interesting and sharp to balance a fantastic sky. Is there a spot at the botton right intersection of thirds ?

    Roberto,

Now that I see my suggestion – I much prefer the original.

    Lorraine,

Botton two thirds of pic is great. Agree about the sky top right though – would not be a problem it there was nice moody cloud formation there

    f27:To infinity and beyond…

    Ben,

Given the distances no need for f27 in the end, but I was working on manual setting and held the f-stop from earlier foreground type shots – will scan and post these for further discussion.

To me the picture is about the sky. I deliberately ignored all the rules in this shot given the great sky that was right over my head – so I pointed the camera up.

    Pete,

The shot is my kind of of photo. One of the things that I find myself doing – especially with slides – is going through them afterwards and wishing a stone or tree, etc. was in a slightly different place. But that’s the journey which helps getting a winner when heading out next time.

A pleasure to look at – well done. For learning – would the large stone / small rock in the center foreground add that bit extra if it were more to the left to balance the sun ?

Haven’t figured out how to edit the image – but would it be more striking without the horizontal rows at the bottom ??

Heard about this bird for the first time on the BBC2 programme COAST last night – that they disappeared form Cornwall and are now resettling there.

    Good to capture it.
