Yea I have two proper Nikon batteries, both fully charged. Tried removing the lens and card and tried the reset.
Looks like ill have to send it in and get a quote on it, probably cost more then the camera is worth.
    Thanks for your reply.

I fully agree and I do want it repaired properly, unfornuntaly im no pro photographer and not earning any morny from it. It’s all just my own hobby.
I wouldn’t have a problem paying for the repair if I were earning a living from it and could afford it.
But simply cant afford 300 euro plus to fix it.
I suppose my only option is to send it to them and get it quoted and hope for the best.
    Thanks.

    Thanks for your reply.
Does anyone know roughly what it might cost to get it repaired with them?
Like are we talking 100 euro area or 300 euro?
If its the higher end I will have no option but to go at it myself, which I know isn’t a good idea :?

Agree with Neiler, great sharpness and nice light falling on the lighthouse, but maybe if you positioned it more to the left of the pic and down abit just enough to remove the water (rule of thirds).
Should run it through photoshop and darken the sky a slight bit, I think the light falling on the lighthouse would look well with a slightly darker sky behind it, would bring out the clouds behind it alot more too.
    But overall a nice snap!

Was shooting in full manual, didn’t want to put in Aperture Priority because it can cause flicker in time lapses.
And i’m not too well up on camera flash yet either, I just put the flash power down to -2.5 to try eliminate as much shadow as possible from the picture.
With the light I had the camera was metering just right at 1/5sec and f/8 was the biggest I could get with the zoom level I was using, prob should have stepped up the ISO but the D300 doesn’t seem to do very will at high ISO even 600-800 introduces alot of grain.

    Thanks for the replies,
Good point about the street lamp Fguihen, to be honest you only drew my attention to how out of place it looks, may bring that one to the photoshop again :-)
There wasn’t much I could do with the pano in processing, if I left more sky it would have put the horizon in the middle and the foreground way too low and there wasn’t anything left of the foreground to shoot more of that, and I also didn’t want to loose the rolling hills to the left or Atlantic to the right, never tried printing it yet, but I get your point, it would want to be a very long print to look good. Will just have to stay as one of them rule breakers I guess :-D
Thanks for the suggestions, ill revisit the one of Dingle and remove that lamp for sure!

    Thanks Miki,
Never really taught about the flash been the problem with the timer as it was firing under the 7 seconds too with the flash firing each time.
Hate having to use on camera flash but when its all you got you have to make do with it, I think I need to invest in a small lighting tent and cheap tabletop lighting kit, till then I may keep my time lapse experiments outside where I don’t need lights :-)
Anyone looking to sell a small lighting kit or lighting tent do contact me :-)

Thanks for your reply Miki, will have to test it out again without the flash and see of it keeps the time better.

I have looked into these courses myself in the past and to be honest I don’t think any of them are much more advanced then the basics, them seem to go alot more into things that are not going to be much use to you in the field, such as the history of cameras, film processing ect.
If you are familiar with using your cameras full controls, in full manual, I don’t think there is much to be gained from these courses for the money it costs, unless you are looking to get the paperwork (diploma most of them offer, which is a FETEC level 6 usually).

My personal opinion, if you already have some decent knowledge in photography then there’s alot more to be gained by picking a certain area in photography you think you are most interested in getting into ( wedding, landscape, portrait ect) and doing on of the 1-2 day courses with what are some of Ireland’s top photographers in their area.
These courses are considerably more in cost, but I think it would be money much better spent.
You will find info of them courses on this site.

Course this is just my opinion but I hope it helps you somewhat.

    Best of Luck.

The lines in the B&W were purposefully photoshopped in to give an older effect to the pictures and no.1 I was going for the softer look to the picture.
    Thanks for comments.

Have that problem with the one I have also.
Can it be turned back on by the remote, without having to go back to receiver on the camera?

    Thanks Miki,
Never been one for instruction manuals anyway
As long as it is good for bulb mode and has a good range i’m happy.
Might try my hand at the time lapse photography too when I get it.

    Thanks for the comments Mardai24,
You say you stayed across the road from the farmyard? I have never been able to figure out exactly where this place was since I took it!
Its a pretty hit or miss County for the weather, that time I was there I got lucky with the weather but been there plenty of times it has been bucketing down!
About No.1 I didn’t use an ND filter, jus a little touch-up here and there in photoshop, actually investing in a set of Cokin filters soon.

Again, thanks for your comments! :)

Thanks for your comment Mike. The tower had to be cut out during the stitching process, wasn’t happy about loosing that, lesson for next time I suppose :-) Sadly I didn’t have my tripod that night so you make do with what you got.
