i have the 15-85 …its a great walk around lens and sharp too ! it covers a nice range from wide angle to portrait with ease…….most people using the 17-40 are using it for landscape , so would very rarely be using f4 or anything near it anyway. the 17-40 is a slightly better lens in all aspects but the 15-85 more than makes up for it in the extra mm for both wide and long focal length

would agree with all of ras’ points above….the main definitely being where the focus lies. the eyes are quite soft.still a nice shot though!

absolutely stunning ras…not much else to say. although the rock at the bottom, off centre right , tends to draw your attention slightly… maybe if it was darkened a touch ?…but that really is a minor point .. a beautiful shot and very well processed

hi jenny , thanks for taking the time to reply . thats actually the look i was going for, a kind of high key / slightly blown out effect….its not to everyone’s taste obviously :-) i might tone it down a bit and see how it looks .
