That long-tailed tit is nearly perfect. Love the dark OOF background and the light in the eye. Pity the tail is slightly clipped, but that’s just a smidge off perfect :) The background on the robin shots is a bit highlighted for my (current) tastes, but that’s a personal taste thing. Nice and sharp.
It is indeed. I was surprised that we weren’t using flash; the female at this site brings the kits out to the garden in daylight for a few weeks in the summer.
Nice opportunity to see such a wild bird up close! Those smashing talons give away her role in nature.
Damn, had the same happen to me several years ago. I was driving across the Curragh, talking to Barker’s on hands free about buying a printer when I saw a kestrel (also a female) perched on the fence on the Kildare side of the racetrack. I nearly pulled a hand brake turn to get off the road. I walked up quite close to her with no issues with no camera of any worth on me. I raced to the house & back but she was gone.
No flash, just natural light. It was at a location in the Scottish highlands where a cooperative female brings her kits into the garden during the morning and evening when there is some light. All you need are some props and some bait.
Yeah, we were in a wooden hide for bear/wolf photography. The wolves are quite suspecting, and never really came closer than maybe 50 metres. Bears … as long as they didn’t notice lenses being moved, would come as close as a few feet!!!
