i’d consider cropping a little from the top to remove some of that dead space and to bring the wisp of cloud closer to the centre of the image. very nice and visually appealing to have two clear distinct images against a blank background, unusual to get this in a landscape.
I like that second shot, you got good colour on the cliffside and in the sea given how low the light must have been, and that you were shooting into the sun…..turquoise of the water is very nice. Also I think you got the composition just right.
First one, I find the contrast a little excessive.
Hey Deebo hows life. Nice shot, I agree the top cloud is a little too dark but I’m not sure a panaoramic would improve it. For me, my favourite thing in this photo is the great detail in the white clouds above the horizon. In fact I’m wondering would the shot nearly look better without the boat given that the boat competes with the cloud for attention….
i’d be a fan of this also, very nice light on the larger rock in the foreground….i cant see the full picture on my screen, so its difficult to say for sure, but perhaps the sky is cropped a bit tightly. what do you think yourself?
I’d prefer the original version myself, I think by making the person bigger you lose the feeling of expanse…I take Tex’s point but I’d be more inclined to crop below the person and include more sky….anyways..as you say, the silhouette makes it…
i wouldnt crop it at all myself….its nicely balanced using rule of thirds, the silhouette or the trees looks super….the only way I think it might be improved is if you could see the tops of the mountains but obviously you didnt have much control over that.
from a compositional point of view, I’m not sure what I’m supposed to be focussing on in either of these, if that makes sense. I prefer the first one…..I think the stones look great particularly. I might crop the sky more tightly in this one so that the focus is more on the stones.
well….you know a lot more about photography than me so I won’t describe this as C&C, just a suggestion…….would a panorama approach improve it? it looks great as it is, but I think those plough lines are a bit too dominant, the sky and trees are the most attractive part of the image for me. i would consider a panorama that places the tree line 1/3rd from the top of the image….i.e. cutting out a lot of the plough lines and some of the sky.
