Im about to order a 50mm 1.8II soon.
The macro i was thinking of is a 100mm 2,8 in a few months
The zoom im not sure about.. which is a better option 70-300 or a 55-250 or something different..
Its for sports and times when i need a little more zoom. I missed some great shots at the kite surfing in Duncannon this year.
Hi Guys,
I hope ya dont mind me tagging on to this thread..
I just make the jump from A Canon G12 to Canon 1100d.
I looking at my future shopping list.
My interests lie in macro and landscape photography. I may start into portrait a little too.
Night photography is a favorite. I like sports too but wouldn’t do much in that area.
I was thinking of the 50mm 2.8 to start off because its good value. What progression would be good after that.
I see some 70-300 lenses going very reasonable. What are these like?
I only get this message now as i was away on holidays.
How did you get on with the F550. I decided to go with the G12. The main reason being i read that some of the lenses were a little faulty and Fuji were repairing them rather than giving users a new camera. With the cameras being so close i wanted the stability of solid camera so didn’t want to risk any slight fault.
I haven’t got an underwater housing yet. That’s next on my list.
Enjoy the cam cause it looks like a great one and its a shame i moved from fuji but the canon also allowed me to combine the flash with the G12 and my next purchase, a new Dslr.
Good idea about choosing the right housing. I normally keep my cameras for a long time unless i loose them :( so there will become well used.
I’m currently using my wifes ixus 980. Some of my pics are here https://www.facebook.com/media/set/fbx/?set=a.10150118302979775.293216.517134774&l=73ef952df0″ onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false; . I basically shoot with camera only. I have no attachments yet.
I need my own camera cause the last thing you want to do is flood or loose your wifes camera.
I made a post in wetpixel but got no response. I’ll go chat the friendly camera shops too. I did look at the Nikon P7000 but that casing is very expensive compared to the canon and the fuji.
thanks sinead. its a cocker alright.. i have some more pics of her on flickr. I actually call her a camera whore!. as soon as she hears the cam beeping she comes running in and throws her nose up to the lens. In most cases cluther would have to be photoshopped out because the natural pic i want is at that moment. Natural is what i like but camera skill and thinking is essential i reckon. I shall take on your advise with everyone else and keep shooting. She certaintly gives me loads of practice.
doggies choc drops work great. Especially when i try to do a reflection pic in her eye.
I’ll give it ago. I tend not to play to much with the photos at first. I like the colours and the expression of the Horse. A MR. Ed look. My best attempts are on flickr and i try to get opinions on them and maybe return for a reshoot. Ballycross is easy to get to, if i can get a fine day. I will change to b&w and clone sign out though.
If you buy over there stick it in ur case without box and so on. I did it with my dvd cam.
About prices as i am looking at the d40 i am peeved with Ireland and its “Euro Equality”
1 lense is $406 in amazon.com pixmania have it for €504. Almost double.
The d40 on pixmania uk is €1149 when converted from sterling. Its €1349 in pixmania ireland.
But a friend for the rebel xti for 466 on ebay. a good deal with an extra lense and accessories. Posted from uk.
Well that is advise that i shall hold onto…
But is it not a bonus to get these accessories to learn with. (i could sell them on at a later date)
I preach the same with cumputers and use the “dont touch vista” line with people who want a simple pc.
I will have a look to see what i can get the body for and maybe purchase a few lenses
if i make a saving. At the end i am learning for now and probably for ever.
I will try out the 40d locally and i can’t see a reason
why i wont like it.
But i take your advise well. You guys know more that me on this topic.
I tend to look at these “great” deals and end up staying local….
I regard this as an investment.
