Lovely shot. Perfect light.
I pass this sometimes on my way to my parents house in Ballyhalbert, and I’ve thought about taking the time to stop and snap it some time.
Ah, good points. I was interested by the big rock in the foreground, but really should have looked towards the middle ground too.
This was about 2pm in the afternoon too, so no dramatic light to be employed here either.
The greens really weren’t that green actually, which is what I liked about it. I’ll post a small version of the original for comparison.
I rattled off loads of photos, and tried a few in black and white too – there was a nice, small waterfall on the way. Had a great few hours away from it all and will definitely return for some “golden hours” attempts.
I like it.
I’d lighten it a little with levels, and that may also result in a little more contrast – the midtones are dominating most of the shot.
Composition-wise, those birds are perfectly placed. :)
Hey guys ‘n’ girls!
Just searched to see if there were any threads on American Football in this country.
I see some nice shots.
I have a second Flickr account to host photographic coverage of our team (the photos on the site that don’t feature The Belfast Trojans – white/green uniform – are my own shots).
Our schedule has been rearranged and will be updated on our site shortly, so if any of you fancy making a trip to a game for an outing you’ll be very welcome. Our first game is 22nd March against University of Limerick (defending back-to-back Champs!) at the University campus grounds.
PS: I’m #1 for the Trojans. (NFL-fan is indeed right: the QB is God :))
Thanks Madeline.
I have ordered a book on colour processing and I intend to read it (I have the attention span and patience of a 4-year old). I always rush my processing.
I know about shooting when the light is good, but my results don’t seem to look as nice on the computer as they seem to on the preview screen of the camera. As a result I have stuck to black and white for a while now (I’m better with shapes than colours).
Again, nice to see your shots.
I like it, especially the clouds and so much of the sky is shown. (I see a wee waterspot up there) Maybe a lower point-of-view would have led the eye up the foreground towards the sky a little more, but I still like the whole composition.
Where is this? Looks so peaceful.
I like them all, especially the first one.
I think maybe the colours are pushed only just too much on the last one, but only just.
I keep scrolling back up to look at the first one cos I like it so much. :)
What steps would you normally take in post-processing, and how long would this take?
As I mentioned before my colour processing is horrible. I always tend to overcook it or something because, straight from camera, they’re always kinda dull.
These, as always, are loverly.
That last shot of the trees is amazing. I have no idea how to get these kinds of shots so evenly exposed.
Are you merging these as an HDR image? Something I’ve only tried once – with poor results.
