i used to do a fair old bit of shoots ( when i was assisting a few years back ) up in the highlands – its like irelands west coast with mountains and loving beaches with the sea thrashing against it. weather is kind of the same too, four seasons in one day – when the sun shines up there it is quite breathtaking. i stayed here once http://www.flodigarry.co.uk/ its on skye …. a little pricey but well worth it…lovely traditional place and in the heart of it all. kyle of lochalsh joins to skye via a bridge … i stayed here once also … can’t remember the hotel.

this place is nice … http://www.plockton.com/ its on the mainland but really nice, i stayed there but i can’t remember the hotel.

i’ve done that whole west side of coast and there are some lovely spots, i’d recommend a car and driving up it, ullapool is a good place to stay also.
