Hi Gerry and thanks for that.

Mind if I ask – was there any particular reason you stopped using it…?

    Hi.

Just Googled reviews etc on this printer and don’t see too much negitivity. Only question I’d have would be regarding consumables, maintenence, etc, as this model was discontinued in Sept 2005. So just wondering how recently was this used and do you generally have any difficulty sourcing consumables…?

    Ta.

Lovvit…! Simple in it’s nature and not trying to be anything else. Love the composition. Works for me….!!

I like both shots as I think they speak individually. The first one, dark and moody, I feel throws one’s attention onto the ‘individual’ as opposed to the building. The second does the opposite and shows the building and it’s majesty….! Yes perhaps a little blown out but personally speaking I don’t think it detracts too much from the shot. The rays are spectacular.

I like the first one best, if only for it’s tones…!!

Lovely shot, but like all those before me suggested, the beams just don’t look right.

Would like to see a version where they don’t extend beyond the rocks.
Allow them fall behind the rocks, as in reality you’d never see them as you’ve represented.

Maybe add some subtle lightening to the outer edge of the rocks to give a sence of placement, although they may not need it and you’ll determine this whilst adapting the rays. To a degree the rocks will naturally have a degree of silhouette against a brighter background. Stand back and see what looks natural…..!

I took your comments as constructive, no other way and indeed we all have a lot to learn…!

Be brave sir… as the worst thing posting work here will bring is constructive critisism/ I have never seen a ‘that’s shit, try another career’ sort of response to anyones work, so it’s not going to happen to you. Like I suggest, it’s a learning cirve and best of all…. it’s free.

As to gear ‘wish list’… god knows.
Getting a job is priority number one…. gear can wait….!!

    damn recession. :-)

    Thanks for the comments.

I have to clarify though – I never post and ‘expect praise’ as there are certainly far better photographers than I here on the site.
I open myself to critique as hopefully it can only improve me… I mean, isn’t that what it’s all about…?

As for being brave… I think not. Just being practical in a learning capacity… maybe you should try it, as we ALL never stop learning…..
If shots are good they’ll justify positive comments, if they’re not they’ll obviously attract critical yet hopefully constructive comments…. so, be brave.

And yes… I dream of better gear….. and it’s nearly Christmas so I’d better behave….!!

    All opinions welcomed.

I think there’s an argument for and against the soother being there. It wasn’t a posed shot so I left it natural.

I heard around a year later that her father liked it so much that he had this image tattoo’d on his back…!!!!

    Hi and thanks.

I did darken it slightly but didn’t want to lose all the detail in the ‘environment’ as such, as all the focus would then fall the car itself. Yes most of it is, but I wanted to retain it’s place within it’s surroundings.

I’ve worked as a graphic designer in advertising circles for 30 years…. maybe it’s showing in my shots…!!! :-)

    Classic…!! :-)

Maybe it was a typo in the headlines. Should have read ‘A crane has crashed into the twin towers’….?
