MMX: yes you could ( ; – it would be another possible image. I had a longterm exposure of the water but decided to go with the sharp version as the clouds reflected beautifully on the surface for the colour version. monsters and more ha – I didn’t bring out the detail as my eyes did already the impossible to balance the harsh light. However i saw black there but you may have another pair of eyes ( ;
miki: yes the B&W supports the structure of the slate – but i was also very attracted to the loud blue sky and the silent cave – I guess both images work in different invironments.
liam: you will be surprised but the green was screaming and i loved the contrast with the blue reflexion on the watersurface. your eyes and brain are master of harsh contrast. Did you ever notice that the eye layers a kind of grey over white areas in dark surrounding – human beings think they see white- but it is rarely white. on my screen the green looks very dark and has nearly no oversaturated areas.
mick: thanks – this is a monsterfile – something about 300mb in 8bit.
Great set of images – dreamlike with a surreal touch. The green looks so tasty – I wished i could eat colours. I do adore the skylines in the first image although i cant undestand how the right pink goes with the white left part. The power of the first image…(and thats why i think it is the strongest one of both)… it literally SHOWS the dynamic of wind in a very beautiful way. Congrats. the sky was with you… mh the pink ( I actually wanted to place a smiley but i jsut realized that the smileys changed and they all look like zombies). So here is the old school
wonderful series Andy. I am also a big fan a capturing the same location in different light – i just makes the power of light so clear!
AND each of them are strong images by itself. The movement in the foreground gives a playful softness to balance out the strong straigh lines of the lighthouse – great stuff.
this is a double exposure – see technical details in the main entry. The night was very bright so just few stars were visible. However, i had to limit the sky exposure to 30 seconds to avoid startrails, and gave the landscape about 4 min to get fine details in it.
I can see your point but my goal was to reflect the magic night close as possible and i can remember that that few stars stand out. the file reduction may cause some distractions and make them look like white dots – they are more subtile in the highresolution file.
Yes it is a little cottage: the true see experience was more impressiv than the image as the cottage is reduced to a little spot. It was such a contrast: the cold high mountains and the little cottage with warm orange light, glowing like a little star ( :
Thank you all for your lovely comments. There is no other way than being touched by this stunning mountain as it happened to me as well.
Joseph: yes the reduction ate many pixels but we hadn’t many stars at this night because the bright moon was interfearing their performance. KERRY BLUE ( ;
Robert: yes yes my english… but it makes people laugh. the best english accident i’ve ever had was this: went to the butcher and asked for “chickentits”. The butcher disappeared and couldn’t work for 2 hours.
Alan: luckily and obsessed photographer doesn’t see himself/herself “working” but it was pretty dangerous down the hill. I asked my bodyguard why he had to drive so fast down the hill. He answered: I don’t drive, we are slipping aaaaahhhhhhh”…but I had the picture already in the camera ( ;
Ok Alan i think it is important to tell me the title of the documentary- somehow i have the feeling it will be a strange title B)
Hi alan, hope you drifted happily into the new year.
Regarding your image and question: i would prefer bw as the colours doesn’t tell a special story. I understand the desire to catch the “last snow” – i drove through a magical snowlandscape one night, everything covered , unreal, WIHTOUT my camera – next day WITH my camera the snow was gone ) ; – crap However: for the purpose of having a snowimages it is o k. for the pupose of having a great and exciting images with a story….mmmmhhh not sure.
miki: thanks for the explanation – i was searching for it as i never saw that before. This was a bitter cold night – so many ice crystals for creating magic in the air ( ;
sorry guys, i messed with my flickr account- just noticed now that the image went missing. so back on track.
Regarding the crop – yes i think the same – usually i see more than 1 cropotions for an image. I decided this version because i am quite attached to the tree shadows which tell the story of night and also support the mystical “scary” mood of this place. I defenetly will crop the image as suggested for my gallery. thanks for your lovely feedback and wishes!
