I have to say i’m being pulled towards the Sigma 140 DG and my reasons are mostly, the sigma is cheaper and seems easier to come by for some reason?? also it takes 4 AA batteries, even though i can get rechargeble CR123s, and i have found out that you can use the sigma with an SB800 on remote wireless, which is great! :) …. so i’m on the lookout now

thanks again for you’re input bingbongbiddley

i don’t really mind if they aren’t reliable if they are easily come by, i’ve been doing some searching on the CR123’s… Maplin’s UK web site have rechargeable CR123’s and they have a shop in Blanchardstown, so i might check if i can get them there, and if so i’ll look deeper into the SB-R200

    Thanks for your help

SB200s would be a good choice, but i thought that as i have a sigma macro lens that the sigma 140 would be a better choice. the CR123 batteries would be a pain and that alone would stop me from purchasing the SB200… thanks for the info on the betteries, i honestly didn’t think of checking that. If you do find some rechargeable option let me know.

Also i’ll play around with the ISO

    Thanks :)

    Hi Dara,

I wouldn’t be very experianced or anything in this area, but i do own a D80 and if you’re looking for a lens and on a buget i would recommend the Sigma 28-300mm f3.5-6.3 DG .. i find it’s a good all round lens and very cheap.. i picked mine up at bermingham cameras in dublin for about ?320 .. thou not sure if they still sell them

    WoW! amazing shots!

You wouldn’t have to sign these… as you can see “yourself” in the shots.. if you look carefully ;)

I’ve bought most of my equipment from ebay from shops in HK.. i saved quite a bit purchasig my D80 + Lens package :)…. although everytime i’ve been hit with VAT even when the package was marked as a gift, i feel it’s still worth it as your saving so much even after the VAT.

yeah downloaded raw 4 yesterday which is the latest but
    still the same,

it’s been a while since i updated my RAW pluging and i’m using CS2 (should be the same for elements) but… from what i remember it doesn’t just install you have to copy the file to a directory (can’t think which one off hand) but when you copied the file to the directory it should have requested to overwrite the old file, did it? if not it might not be the right directory… or maybe the file didn’t overwrite for some reason…

just a thought…. but would it be possible to hold a photo viewing session a day or two after the shoot… where you could show the perants the photos taken (on a laptop or desktop) and they could order any prints the require and maybe pay up front or arrange…..

maybe not an option, but just the thought..

    Hi Graham!

Really great self portrait! i know how hard these are to get right as i’ve tried a few and they aren’t easy, getting the focus right and stuff

i know i’m only new to this forum, but i would like to comment.. i have to agree with the other’s about the cropping of the shoulder out, but i definitely would have kept the darkness on the right side of the photo especially on the face, i think it adds to the photo, i also luv the texture.
