this one shows the elephants rock silhouette… what i meant in my previous post was that if you position yourself closer to the big rock on the right you will see the whole elephant…
yeah the elephant rock is the large one on rhs… the title is bit confusing… to yourn right where you were standing is huge rock, from there you can actually see the whole elephant
John thats a keeper… even though it doesnt fit for me in landscape category… fantastic composition, great lighting in the foreground, great texture in the waves… well converted as well….
just follow causeway coastal route towards portstewart and from Ballycastle you will have in order : kinbane head, ballyntoy harbour – walk past the carpark about 0.5 miles and you will find elephants rock, than if you continue: giants causeway, dunluce castle…
Fiona I’m not sure what you were trying to achieve here… first of all there is a nasty halo around lighthouse, not sure also about the white balance or the saturation – bit of a unnatural tint to this photo…
if you were using nd soft grad filter to stop down the shutter for the foreground maybe consider using higher nd stop filter…
Definitely Glencar… Tripod is a must… even if you are shooting “regular” shots with no intention to do the long exposures get a tripod and remote release… this way you will slow down to think about the composition to position camera and tripod correctly, you will eliminate vibrations, and by using remote release (cable release will do as well) you are eliminating possibility to move camera while pressing the release button – all that will contribute to sharper shots and slower shutter speeds… good luck
nice looking place…
the sky is definitely overblown… and foreground could be bit brighter… have you consider 3stop soft nd grad cokin filer? that would hold back the highlights in the sky and give you more light in the foreground… if you are using nd filer directly on your lense just get proper size ring and slide holder on it and slide a nd grad filer to cover the sky… should help.
