Try Conns Cameras either the shop or site http://www.connscameras.ie I buy most of my kit there, not always the cheapest but nearly always reasonable, their service is worth the price difference though. I did buy a lens abroad which had a fault in the first year, had to send to Nikon for repair, gone for weeks and no communication when it was gone, I also had to pay carraige. Conns will give you a replacement to keep you going while it is gone, look after shipping, and they have a few experts on their staff if you have queries about what you are buying. I have no allegience to them otherwise.
Thanks, there seem to be a numbe of different views on how to do this when I follow the link above. I’ve sent a mail to Apple, I’ll update when/if I get a response. Seems crazy if they don’t let you, especially as they do allow it for Lightroom, but they are effectively a monopoly so get away with it.
Great shot, did you use a reflector to bounce the light back on to his face? Interesting to read your comments on the D700, I am still using a D200 ready to change but don’t want to invest in the D700 until they update it, my luck would be that I would buy and they would update! Had a look at your website, great shots.
Agree with the comments above, some of them are cropped too thight. 3 &4 are nice shots, 4 especially, I would crop it a bit more on the right to balance the composition, however it is great as it is, lovely colour
Agree with the comments above, nice pictures but the colour being enhanced a bit, try increasing the white balance, on number one I would either clone or crop out the branches on the right and reduce the amount of show in the foreground. Number three is nice, try straightening it a bit. The shots show this off as a beautiful place, would love to have been there!
Thanks for your comments, I have gone up there a different times of the year but Autumn seems to be best for getting the light in to the valley at sunrise, but then you have the shadow on the west side to contend with. There is a spot at the other end not far from the road, but the view is not as good. The November/December issue of “Walking World Ireland” maps a route that brings you over the west side, I hope to try it soon and return with the camera if worthwhile.
There is a handy spirit level that you can get to attach to your hot shoe for about €15, helps get the horizons level in the camera. I like the shot of the snow on the branches, would make a nice print. Would be interested to see the first print without the tones.
Glendalough fills with Tourists early in the morning so the best option is to head away from the main tourist sites and return to them late afternoon or at first light on Sunday morning as it gets hard to get a shot without people in it.
