    I was posting late!

It is a combination of 2 exposures as I was there too late and the dynamic range was way above what my 20d can capture! I want to go back there a bit earlier in the evening sometime or possibly in the morning if I can force myself up! I left the mound in as I was very close to the edge as it was and the mound wasn’t particularly solid cropping it I felt made the picture all sky with not enough ground but if I could get a slightly higher vantage point I think it would improve the shot.

Banff is a fantastic place to visit I would throughly recomend it. I spent 4 days in Banff and had a quick trip up to Lake Louise but unfortunately the weather while we where there was very overcast and misty so I didnt get many shots just a few after the sun had set.

I have loads of shots, I keep meaning to post more of them but I was editing a few today so I decided to post this one as it was fresh in my mind!

You had edit pictures ticked so I decided to have a quick play. It’s got my usual processing done too it, it’s a bit of a puesdo hdr but with a jpg you are quite limited to what you can actually achieve which is why the sky looks a bit messy.

3 by a mile. By far the best sailing on display too. Some shocking crewing in some of those photo’s!

It’s hardly surprising that #3 won the event winning 5 of the 6 races :P

The problem i’ve always found when shooting boats is really rough weather in photos looks quite flat and peacefull. It can be really deceiving you you have to try and catch any waves that break over the bow and things like that. This event the weather was quite calm though so there isnt much I can really do about that!

I know a few people have snapped masts in similar circumstances! It happens more down in sligo where you capsize at the top of a wave then hit the bottom and snap the top of your mast!

Generally where we sail in lough erne is fairly deep although we did run aground in a j24 about 2 months ago. “Dont worry there’s plenty of water at the island…” the foredeck managed to fish us off with the spinnaker pole although we lost our 2nd place in the race.

Yeah the twig in #1 really annoys me, i’ve tried cloning it out before but it still doesnt look quite right. #3 was shot in shadow so I didnt get the tones that #1 had. I always think #2 looks like he’s about to break into the Bakerstreet saxaphone solo!

Fantastic series of shots, I’ve never went to see any of the Prodrift series but I’ve always thought they could produce some quite dramatic photographs. Out of the series I think #3 and #10 would be my favourite two. #3 just shows brilliant action and #10 is a fantastic tight cropped shot showing the driver looking out the side window.

It’s a pitty he isnt using an open face helmet as seeing his eyes could of improved the shot more although the reflective visor gives a good visualisation of what the driver can actually see which is also pretty cool

Fantastic shot, I love this sort of long exposure of the sea, it always looks so peacefull and the toning really reminds me of Denis Olivier’s work. (One of my favourite photographers)

Nice shot, the colours look well in it.

I love Kinbane it’s such an erie place and it’s so peacefull sitting out looking back on the Castle. The last time I was there we arrived to late and the sun had already set but I still took a few shots in the dusk.
