I really like this – but I can’t offer informed opinion as to why….the immediate impression I got was….
… nice lead in to the overall image
… great lines, and shadows with the bridge
… love the composition of the overall image, but particularly the stirde of the suit in the foreground – well timed
…the above combined with the smaller chap in the background – lovely timing and real depth
As I said I do like this for all the above reasons and more….. but this is purely the subjective opinion of a amateur trying to learn…
Agree with this…..not sure why i like it….i just do
For some reason its like it was set up. Nobody blocking each others place in the pic. Great!!!
Cheers everybody. Was a great day. I had so much to snap at.
Not sure what you mean by muted colours?
Rob i see what ya mean, maybe a tiny bit of rotation. A little crop might work aswell.
Dunno about the black and white, i like the colour.
And sigh, yes a little dust spot. Tried to clean but without getting the mr sheen out or dropping in for a clean, ill have to put up with for a bit.
I really like this. Love the shadow on the building on the right. Really old feeling to this. Could have easily popped up in my old histoey book!! What time of day what this taken?
Ill have to give RAW a go. Havnt been using it much and not had much experience with Photoshop. its a learning process i suppose. I think ill have to pick up the monopod.
Expresbro….the director was cool with it, in fact he was ragin i didnt get any from the front.
Suppose theres not much that can be done about the movement. I guess finger on the trigger waiting for those still moments could be the way forward!!
Thanks again
M
Thanks guys.
A faster lense? Any recommendations? They expensive? Monostand? That like a tripod without the tripod nature!!??
There was an element of camera shake but i managed to use the flat side stage to rest the camera. I suppose a faster shutter speed would have made a difference but then it doesnt quite capture the light and mood of the the performance. And also i only had a set time to get snap. i was in the wings…Stage crew walking around aswell. Had to be careful where i stood.
I couldnt really go out and take pics as i was part of the production.
Flash is absolutely out of the question. I can just imagine the director!! WTF!!!!
Its more for the future. My brothers band has a few gigs coming up and i want to get some good snaps for him. Also i think ill be in some situation of low light and and moving people. Indoor stuff.
A barbeque, and cans of beer no less, and all on Good Friday?
Tut tut. Whatever happened to sobriety and fish?
Welcome to the forum Munky. Hope you have fun learning.
Thanks guys.
Yeah the last one is a little dark. Never noticed till now. Im going to start going through the manual and seeing what each little setting does. Just had to get snapping…you know new toy and that. Everybody there was happy to have the day documented.
Hi guys.
Thanks again for the help. Camera arrived a few days back.
Went a bit nuts trying to figure out the settings and that….looks like ill busy for a while!!!
Cheers
Munky
EDIT: Deleted the links and posted in the right place (I hope)
Thanks Dave
Thanks Joe and Aimee. Ill be snapping everything….but will have to wait a while, checked my order and the EOS is out of stock till 20/04…. so a big fat doh to that.
Suppose ill start reading up on things in the meantime.
Cheers

Puckpics, you say to read everything, do you mean general magazines, if so can you recommend any. The posts here? ive been sifting through and have been looking at the pics. I see what you are saying about a style. Some definite themes running through some of the galleries. I live in glasnevin, any clubs near by?
At the moment i am waiting for the camera to be delivered, so im hoping on the easter weekend i might get out and about. Will try post a few, see what youse think.
