Ya most of you were right, they are ni the river up the top right, just to the right of the Elephants.
Ya Joe it is the Tarangire National Park, That shot was taking from a Picnic area that is up high looking over the River.
There was also Waterbuck there as well but I couldn’t get them into the shot as well.
It was amazing to see so many animals all at the one time.
SnapHappy, I’ll try to mess with the photo, but I only use Picassa (Goggle software) to change the photos.
I actually forgot to mention that we were moving as well
when I got to take this as the driver was trying to follow the animals and get into the right position.
Considering the roads there as well, I am really happy to have got this one, you should hvae seen some of the others at the same time, all over the place to be honest.
But I have to say that the whole experience and excietment when this was happening was unreal, definelt yhte highlight of a 9 day safari.
We did get to see another kill (a gazelle)by a pack of lions, but didn’t really get too many shots as I wanted to enjoy the whole thing without worrying about getting more shots. Plus there was too many gazelles to know which one to aim for, as there was 4 lions as well.
I can highlly recommend going there, as seeing the animals in the zoo is just not the same.
Was definetly a case of being in right place at right time.
This was first lion we saw after 4 days.
When we came on them first they (2 females & 4/5 cubs) were doing nothing really just lying down licking themselves.
Then they saw the warthog in the distance and went very quietly to surround the animal. 1 lion chased and lead the warthog to the other to grap.
It was really amazing to see it all from start to finish.
All the hyena’s came along with the vultures, and 1 jackal & a torny eagle as well.
Lions had their feed and fairly devoured it and left the scraps for the rest.
The image itself is cropped a little bit from the original one and I added a bit of saturation only to it.
Sorry Pixelle to sound stupid, what do you mean by contrast? I only use Picasa o edit the photos I have.
I have used Blurb once to make a book only a few months ago as a wedding moring present to my new wife.
The book came out excellent, but one thing is though just watch out for the full bleed on the edges. Don’t have anything too important their as it may get cut off. Also and I don’t htink this will be a problem if you are using a dslr is to make sure you shoot at the highest quality, as with a point and shoot you won’t be able to cover a full page. Otherwise the book can out very good.
Only took 10 days for delivery from Holland and it cost €37-38 for a 100 page book. Note you maybe better to get charged in $ and get it charged to your credit card, but not a problem if you want them to pay for it through site.
One other thing is though, if you want to make different size books in it you have to start from scrath with the project file…
First time ever trying any sort of sports photography.
A friend said he was going to a game when I was down the country and I had the camera with me, so I said why not give it a go.
Very hard to find a position that doesn’t have a bit of background in that particular game.
Also only have a 70-300mm 5.6f, I can see why the pro have the really big guns out for it. guess I could blur a bit more with software though.
It really is so hard to get the action, the ball moves so quick in the game, I just got lucky to an extent with this one.
Just wondering which one you got, as in what colour one or size, as there are 6 different ones?
Also could you recommend what other type of bean bag, not sure what to get for a safari?
Ya sorry meant that we have a private driver, won’t dream of driving out there, I’d get totally lost and all that.
As regards the memory well I have approx 21gb of cards which should give me 2100 photos if shooting in RAW, which I normally dont but might for this trip. I’m only after buying a 16gb card, but I do think I probably need more battereis though as I only have 2 da moment.
Also I have one of those remote controls as well, just need to be able to operate it without out it been seen as well….
Your right about if I mess it up , as I’ll get killed, was just in Rome with the camera and had to make sure I got things right….
Thanks for the feedback here, ya your right about enjoying the honeymoon, but then the missues is the one that is trying to make sure I capture as much as possible as well. Just bought a 16gb memory card for the camera as well, think I have more money than sense.
I booked my trip through Expert Africa in the UK, very good so far with good tips. Booked it in STG last Oct/Nov when stg was a lot dearer for us and have to pay yet for it, think I may have saved over €1k already with the exchange rate. I booked the flight myself through KLM, Dub – Amsterdam – Kilimanjaro and back through Dar es Sallam as we are going to Zanzibar for over a week as well. We have got a private jeep with us as well, didn’t want to be sharer with other people as with Aidan above.
Aidan really like your photos & story telling very informative
By the way does anyone know if I can use one of those extender tube things to make my 70-300 longer???
